In 2010 the Rangers missed the playoffs by losing a game 82 shootout to the Flyers. The next year they basically had it, but gave it away by losing 3-0 at home to ATL in game 81.

Two days later the Rangers beat the Devils 5-2 in an early start but had to wait for the Canes to play TBL - with nothing left to play for - in the evening.

The Bolts won 3-0 with Stamkos getting the last goal and we avoided missing the playoffs in game 82 for two straight years.

And then we faced the Caps and &#/#(#

TBL beat Carolina to help us make the playoffs.

And then washington game 4 happened.

Big time. And Joe almost had us all convinced a puck that hit the crossbar had actually gone in. (In game 5 with the score 2-1 caps if I'm not mistaken)

It wasn't their actual pick, the league just added a pick on the end of the first round. I sympathize with the Devils in the whole situation tbh, punishing someone for not following a gentlemen's agreement re: a loophole that was very obviously there seems a bit harsh to me
