The problem isn't really NJ getting their first back. It's the league having no spine and showing that they can't enforce their own rules on any level.
The Devils still lost a 3rd round pick, get a potential top 10 pick dropped to 30th and got fined 1.5 million.
Let's not act like they didn't face any discipline at all. The first penalty was over the top. This is much more appropriate considering the other ridiculous contracts out there and the fact that the arbitrator ruled that the Devils didn't act in bad faith.
So basically, it's just the top 10 to 30. No one cares about the 1.5 million. And it's a third round pick, big deal.

Look at some of the returns gotten for 3rd and 4th round picks at the deadline. A 3rd rounder is a legitimate asset that they lost.
