Young middle pair defenseman (Kerry Huffman)
Proven #1 goalie (Ron Hextall)
Top forward prospect (Peter Forsberg)
Power forward prospect (Chris Simon)

If they could get most of those pieces in return for a trade, it would change the entire team dynamic.

Instead they will Edmonton the trade and get:
30 million in coupons
two 3rd liners
a 1st round pick which will be later traded for a Goalie that will fail.

My only question is this: Torts has historically been a cycle styled coach. How would he fare with this roster which is more geared towards rush styled play? I've said it a few times in the past, Gully is a modern Torts. However, Torts is still significantly superior to Gully in managing players and in game management.

Is that the style he employs at Columbus (and employed in New York)? It worked in Vancouver cause of the make-up of their team and the fact that it was so Sedin oriented for so long

I seem to recall the Torts games I've seen in CBJ and NY were cycle styled games. I'm pretty sure he's not a rush styled coach. I seem to recall that he was kinda like the other side of the coin of Hartley. Similar foundation, forked journeys and conclusions.

Cycle vs Rush.
Both had the teams running through walls.
Both vocal and the types of guys to get in trouble with the league for minor things.
Both strong game management guys (which boiled down into the line brawl hilarity stuff at times)... etc.
Both considered dinosaurs, but somehow the styles they employed feel like they are lending themselves to relevance again. (I consider Gallant a Hartley type coach)

Like it or not, as long as we’re close to a playoff spot up until to the deadline, ownership won’t let this team sell because of potential playoff revenue.

But I’m confident in Treliving that he will make a good hockey deal if one arises. Honestly for me personally I would like to see Gaudreau moved for a premium package of futures but it’s most likely to happen at the draft.

They are not capable of consistent hot streak now that everyone is showing up..go check your history book. That fluke only happens about once a decade.
