Didn’t something like the above happen with the Isles years ago under Snow? Like they traded for Vanek midseason, saw a major downturn in their fortunes, and then salvaged something from it by moving him on to the Habs in the same season? But I’m guessing, if the move fails to work out this time, the Isles probably get to keep their first rounder, even if they ship him on.
