why? because they have a deferent opinion than you'? what would it prove if they were forced to do something they didn't believe?
So it’s ok they trot out the salute to military jersey, support cancer jersey and nights, but supporting a group of people that for decades have been told they’re not people and the way they feel or just are is wrong is not a cause to support with some bs religious excuse? Being gay not so long ago was considered against the law and chemical castration was a punishment in some cases. You don’t think the stuff that any walk of life poc, LGBTQ+ etc don’t deserve support then I don’t know what you consider causes worth supporting.

Yeah nice try. It’s being inclusive and showing support to those other causes and then suddenly have an issue with this, this year, is an interesting take to now draw a line with.

Imaging comparing a guy who hates people for their sexuality to a guy who hates people for their race. Wild take!
They’re cut from the same cloth, one just gets to hide behind religion as an excuse.

Wow. Alvin probably wins, but NYI gets better. Your turn Hex
You think Allvin won? I think the Canucks lost this one.

Beauvillier is definitely a product of Barzal and Raty? Raty has the skill but he’s just not quick and maybe being in the West would help in the past but speed is the trend that won’t go away and he’s struggled there. Protected first is a nice add but I don’t know if I call this a win for the Canucks.

Any word on if Horvat is wanting to extend with the NYI?

I think getting a 1st in this draft, plus a decent roster player, and a pretty good prospect for an unsigned Boeser is a pretty big w for Vancouver. I’m sure they’ll waste the pick and turn Raty into Finnish ZAR, but on paper it’s good value.

Right now I say Isles. But in a year who knows.

Oh fun. Got another warning for discussing the comical warning for stating facts about a racist deceased player.

Essentially - how dare you show a warning PM about us trying to censor truth about a racist abuser, here’s another warning!

I love this move for the Canucks. If the Isles finish bottom 12 then the 1st becomes 2024 unprotected. Or best case scenario the Isles barely miss the playoffs and give them #13-15 this summer.
Yeah, Beauvilier is making too much, but the Canucks are a cap ceiling team and aren't close to winning next year still. They can afford the cap dump. Raty is a nice throw-in.
All for a rental piece...you can't hate it as a Vancouver fan.

Yeah, it really makes Meier an impossibility for us IMO.

He doesn't hate them. You're comparing a guy who wouldn't wear a rainbow jersey in warm-up with a guy who beat the piss out of his wife and supported Hitler. It sounds like a real reddit caricature.

It’s all good as long as you hide it behind religion. You know the real golden rule: “hate others if they do things you don’t agree with…even if it has no affect on your life.”
Personally if a religion makes you intolerant towards all walks of life, the religion sucks. But that’s not the case for Provorov, his interpretation of his religion is where the ignorance lies. Malkin saw zero issues wearing the pride warm ups vs Dallas.

Weird how a Russian Orthodox player like Alex Ovechkin didn’t seem to mind showing support for this fan and posing for a picture.

Lou apparently wants to keep Horvat long term but honestly if he doesn’t work out for them up until the TDL, who’s to say Lou doesn’t retain on Horvat and dump him for something bigger? Another 25% retained Horvat to say, the Avs or Canes is an incredible add given the Avs will get guys back and compete and the Canes are unsure about Patches and his Achilles heel.

Getting a 5.5m cap hit player for barely 3.1m is a steal given what he provides.

I’m not going to argue about this.

Provorov is intolerant to homosexuals. Good luck in life brother.

In my opinion, pride jerseys aren't really about individual players signaling their agreement with LGBTQ people; they're about showing marginalized groups that the NHL wants them as fans. This is why players choosing not to wear the jersey causes so much drama--the implicit message is that support from LGBTQ fans isn't wanted.

I have no problem with Provorov not wanting to wear a jersey with something he doesn’t agree with.

Let’s just not pretend the reason he isn’t wearing it is because he’s open minded. Dude hates people because of what they do in private. Get bent.

Maybe Minnesota can trade Reaves and Gustafson for that package...make him 3C...

Also, Raty as the “prospect” in that deal is just bad. For a team with the worst defensive prospect pool in the league - Bolduc and Odelius would have been my ask with a higher retention.

I was wondering why @BigEezyE22 replied with no post and then I see you replied in the quote…

“Maybe Minnesota can trade Reaves and Gustafson for that package...make him 3C...”

Billy dumping Suter and Parise was tough, he needed them gone and no one would take them due to the term they had left and the amount he’d need to retain as well as their clauses.

Problem for me is that the NHL promotes a lot of things with these warm ups and charities, they want to celebrate Black History Month being a f***ing joke? Fine. But when other players the same faith as Provorov have worn the jersey without issue, it becomes clear it’s not just about beliefs it’s about ignorance.

Then the entire Rangers team doubled down on that ignorance.

Now next month is Black History month, time for us to get pandered to by idiots that aren’t black telling us about our history, it’s always a blast. But more importantly, the NHL gets to pretend they care all the while doing the bare minimum for diversity. Who’s to say some redneck that loves the Confederate Flag decides for religious reasons he doesn’t want to promote black history functions for his team? Oh boy that should be fun. Because Russian Orthodox is very intolerant not just of homosexual people but also not the kindest to blokes the shade I am. I’d love to see Provorov and DeAngelo protest that one.

I never thought we had a chance at Horvat, or Meier for that matter, but if Vancouver is willing to retain on guys I wonder if they might be willing to part with Garland by clipping 1 or 1.5 off his salary. I’ve always thought that guy would thrive here, being an undersized New Englander and all…

Didn’t something like the above happen with the Isles years ago under Snow? Like they traded for Vanek midseason, saw a major downturn in their fortunes, and then salvaged something from it by moving him on to the Habs in the same season? But I’m guessing, if the move fails to work out this time, the Isles probably get to keep their first rounder, even if they ship him on.

Horvat on the Canucks would be….pretty stellar. And it looks like Colorado is gaining a head of steam right now

Yeah traded for Vanek then sold him to Montreal on the cheap I think?

Like so many teams went hard in the paint to hire women in high profile management roles but how many black or poc are in those same positions?

Mike Grier - Sharks GM
Bill Guerin - Wild Gm (IYKYK)
Frantz Jean - Goalie Coach Tampa for over a decade
Nigel Kirwan - Tampa’s Video Coach
Sudarshan Maharaj - Anaheim’s Goalie Coach

That’s it.

5 women are Assistant Managers and that’s great. But apparently diversity is very easy to be picky with NHL teams.

Yeah traded for Vanek then sold him to Montreal on the cheap I think?
Collberg and a second.

Vanek turned down 50m/7yr deal and didn’t like the Barclays move.

edit: I think in this case, Horvat is a better player. For what he can do for a team with his game is hugely important. Vanek had injury issues and sort of just bounced around from the Isles to Habs, Wild, Jackets, Wings all in like a span of 4 seasons or so.

I've heard Raty's of the Eric Fehr mold since being drafted. Don't think he's gonna amount to anything much.
Not sure where you heard that, but it’s the first time I’ve ever hear of Raty being called they kind of player.

He’s by no means a blue chip prospect, but was projected as a high as #1 overall leading up to his draft year and his stock fell. He’s got pretty high offensive upside and he’s put up very respectable numbers in the A. I doubt pens have a prospect outside of Pickering and possibly Blomquist that teams would value any higher than him just to give some perspective. He’s much more of a boom or bust prospect than a guy like Fehr.
