Vancouver are truly perplexing. Years of mediocrity ahead and by the time Pettersson needs a raise, they'll still be knee deep in OEL, Garland, and probably looking to offload a 28 year old Boeser. Whose value they have also watched crater.

I still cant fathom how they had JT Miller having a 99-point career year at age 28, blowing expectations away, with plenty of people saying "look out, someone is going to overpay him for his production this year". And not only did Vancouver NOT move him for a king's ransom of assets at the TDL, they became "that team" that overpaid him.

When you are a building, non-playoff team, that is like the textbook definition of when you pull the trigger to cash in on a vet player. They played themselves, and now they're stuck with him, will likely lose their captain (i'm assuming they dont make the same mistake twice, and extend Horvat 8 years/80M or something) and are threatening to do like Buffalo did: molding a young core into a losing core who probably cant wait to leave.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and all, but they really didnt look like they were going anywhere the past few years, and had years of damage to repair from Benning. They idea that they would load up on big money contracts, and Boudreau was going to turn things around, is insane.

Miller strikes me as the type who has the skillset to actually be a consistent 80 point guy (last year being the career season), but is too much of a dink as a person to put in the effort to do so.

All business when it comes to getting points, controller disconnect on defense. Dont get him angry, he will yell at you for not getting him the puck while he cherry picks and watch when you get scored on the play from his giveaway.

That's still a thing?
I think it is. Not entirely sure though. I feel like I've seen dudes with some slight single tucks. I didn't watch the game last night. Did Ovi have a tuck at all? He used to do an aggressive full tuck, Geno used to do a pretty moderate full tuck himself.

Gretzky had a relatively iconic jersey tuck. Feels weird the league would go after em. Maybe it was to prepare for ads on the bottom rear of the jersey

Jersey tuck was and is a thing

AFAIK, they aren't really supposed to call it if it happens while skating.... As long as you start the shift with it untucked

Officially the reason was it obscures your number

But yeah also ads. Jersey manufacturerer names used to be on the bottom hem. Now they're usually above the nameplate. So it's kinda not a big deal anymore. Other than the numbers. Which I mean...it's weak, but clear numbers IS part of the uniform rules and scoring etc etc is always based on jersey numbers not names.

Zadorov has 8 goals.
Career high for him. Also might set a career high for dumbass penalties

Dude just played 18 minutes tonight. Wtf

Sportsnet just showed a clip with an assistant coach. Apparently he was pretty adamant to play this season. Now with the Canucks season pretty much over, the team asked that he have surgery now to be fully healthy for next season.

It amazes me how few goals are defensemen score. You look around the league and random guys who play on the second or third pairing have like 4 or 5 already, then you look at the Pens and the number of regulars who will be lucky to score more than 3 after 82 games.

but Analytics say Pettersson is one of the best offensive WAR defensemen in the league!

I do find it hilarious that Anaheim traded 4 of the defensemen on that chart tho.
