Consensus is in EVERYONE is ok with the Celebrations, but for gods sakes please no one say Celly again,we arent that lame brained here and we arent suckers for fads here either, that word is stupid. And saying Celly is done for cachet purposes it isnt hockey-like,it is soccer-like so keep it on there PLEASSSSSSSE,it really does suck,it sounds like something a person with a soother in their hand would say--really lame man, really lame.

Who cares?

Get used to it, people aren't going to stop saying it because you politely ask.

Grow up.

Bit of a soccer mentality here, eh?...

Score a goal in a team game, then skate AWAY from your team-mates:

No wait... First push your mates aside and THEN skate away!

Only when you've finished your narcissistic gyrations will you accept your team's adoration.

Yeah, it's all about you, nail.

If I was on his line, I'd skate to the bench and let him roll around on his own.

Some sports need this type of stuff to spice things up.

Hockey doesn't, IMO.

The media become ridiculous with the ways they shoe horn a "headline story" out of a hockey game.

Did the LA Kings show even the slightest indication of disapproval at the moment it happened? Nope.

Did any players bring it up before they were asked about it? Nope.

The entire thing was pimped out by TSN to create the illusion of "contreversy" where there was none.

I like the people who've been saying we need more personalities like yak, not less.

Could you imagine if each team had their own guy like yakupov in the league celebrating and playing with that much raw emotion. Would be awesome

Yep. Contrived controversy sells!

Yes Because he's ONLY excited about scoring THE GOAL and it had NOTHING to do with the EMOTION in the building, the TIME in the game or WHAT the goal meant in regards to the game.

For **** sakes. If you don't like it, because you're delicate sensibilities are offened by guys truly enjoying what they love, then maybe STOP HIM FROM DOING IT

Guessing from this you had absolutely no clue of the context of the goal?

I loved every part of that celebration and the kid damn well earned it. Whiners like Souray can just shove off. This sport is about entertainment and that is EXACTLY what Yakupov did. We need more people who take pride in their efforts and display it for their fans.

He was motioning to the crowd almost the entire time. How could we not have love it? The place went insane after that, and I'd argue that the celebration was a huge addition to getting the fans roaring and fully into the game.

I loved this celebration, not just b/c it awesome but b/c you find out who got their jimmies rustled by it and then you can label them as being too uptight and a bore.

I don't get why anyone would complain? The kid scored a big goal and he got excited, so what? God forbid we take things so damn seriously all the time ....... wait 6 months for hockey and ***** about greed from owners and players only to ***** that some rookie likes to express himself after scoring a goal.

Ppl need to lighten up.

celebration: ultimately don't care. they're fairly corny and don't get me pumped up at all. the goals do. keep doing them, though. the more pissed off traditionalists get, the better.

this will turn into a total division between fans when he's around and struggling, $$$ is short on holding all 5 studs, etc, etc... just wait for the masses to turn during bread and circuses against the "outsider".

This, right here, is why hockey is a 'B' rate sport outside of a handful of countries.

Bash soccer cellies all you want, that sport made more money in the last 5 minutes than the NHL did in the last decade...due, in a very big part, to the way they celebrate.

If the NHL ever hopes to become more than a fringe element, you need to draw crowds...Yakupov's celly just drew more people than everybody in that video ever has...combined. It was aired in England, ffs.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but when I saw him be the first one off the bench to go celebrate with his teammates after Gagner scored the OT winner that told me that he is all about winning, not all about himself. He's just as happy to set someone else up for a goal as he is to score it on his own.

When Selanne threw his glove up in the air and pretended to shoot it with his stick after scoring a big goal in his rookie season, I don't recall 1/10th the outrage and vilification that Yakupov is receiving from certain circles. Obviously the Internet has a hand in that, but I'm sure there's more to it.

You should have watched the game. The whole place was a powder keg leading up to that climax. Everybody lost their mind. Nail was completely justified in celebrating like that.

Well, it got the Oilers game highlights on ESPN SportsCenter. Otherwise the only mention of the game all show would have been on the ticker.

Was it excessive? Maybe.
If this had been an away game, Yakupov would have deserved a smack across the face.

But his celebration at home, after a key goal, just pumped up the crowd even more. I have never heard Rexall louder.
