Souray's an idiot. Comparing it to the putting the ball on the 50 yard line at Dallas Stadium....does the fool not realize this was a home game, not a road game?:help: As for Selanne, i figured he would be okay with it, considering his machine gun celebration back with the Jets in his rookie season.

i would think cherry will spend all his time *****ing about the refs and how they are deciding the games not the players doubt he even mentions the yak goal except to say it reminded him of his friend fleury

JVR was good on sports net, said he probably wouldn't celebrate like that but if people don't like it then they should stop guys from scoring those goals

I just saw the highlight for the first time tonight. I wish NHL players would show more emotion tbh. Celebrations like that are actually entertaining, especially when you're watching it live. It's a freakin game after all, which a lot sports fans seem to forget.

I'm not a big Souray fan, but come on guys. There was nothing really negative about what he said. Said he wouldn't appreciate it if it was against Dallas, same went for some LA Kings players.

I think some people are taking it a bit out of context to be honest.

I thought it was awesome and I am fairly old school when it comes to celebrating. With such a high emotion game it was awesome to see how passionate he was to tie the game.

Now if he starts doing this every goal he scores then were gonna have an issue.

Souray compared it to this:

Terrell Owens celebrates a touchdown on the opposing team's logo at center field. Then goes to do it again later in the game and gets hit by a Cowboys player.

Implying that what Yakupov did was near as disrespectful to the other team as what TO did and that someone will or should hit Yakupov the next time is a bit ridiculous.

If you don't like negative comments regarding Yak's celebration, for the love of god don't watch HNIC tomorrow. That old fossil Cherry looks for any excuse to dump on the Oilers and I'm sure he's salivating at the prospect of ripping on them for this.

A little sensitive maybe? Anytime I've seen him talk about the Oilers, he's loved them, and if anything, made it clear he wants to see them do better.

Video link in op must have been changed since most of these comments were made.
Rishaug conducted the segment normally and the worst comments were by Belanger, not Souray.
But honestly, I don't see a single "negative" comment there.

Of course Selanne wouldn't have a problem with it. I'll never forget his celebrations during his rookie year when I was a little kid in Winnipeg. We loved it, all the kids that were growing up there absolutely loved it.

I'd like to see Yak shoot his glove out of the air after scoring his first hattrick. Hopefully tomorrow!

Consensus is in EVERYONE is ok with the Celebrations, but for gods sakes please no one say Celly again,we arent that lame brained here and we arent suckers for fads here either, that word is stupid. And saying Celly is done for cachet purposes it isnt hockey-like,it is soccer-like so keep it on there PLEASSSSSSSE,it really does suck,it sounds like something a person with a soother in their hand would say--really lame man, really lame.

 I can't believe people get so worked up about this kind of stuff

I LOVED Yakupovs celebration, especially because the way he ended up when he was done was exactly how Quick looked after the goal,it was priceless, and well deserved,I cant wait to see the next version of a big one,but I doubt Yakupov will do this much as that was a HUGE goal, the timing and the drama were legendary, epic, but this guy could have had 4 goals last game and will be celebrating a LOT here,so I hope he pots a few more dandys so he can show us the Deluxe version as much as possible,we need to get him into the playoffs just so we can all see more of these as I doubt his regular celebrations will be so epic.Gagners was nice as well lets not overlook that one,ha ha ha.

I loved that selly too! Jumped out of my seat!

I'm not really sure why anyone would be upset about someone celebrating a goal in a hockey game. It's just entertainment; it's not like it matters in the grand scheme of things. There are much larger things to be concerned about in life.

All Souray did was remind me how much I love TO haha, that guy makes me laugh and I love it because it was against the Cowboys. Though, I'm pretty sure he would've done that to any team, but Dallas stadium is a pretty big deal.

seems the media is fishing for complaints, but no players want to say anything negative.

If Yak taunted the bench or did Anisimov's shoot the goalie, then there'd be a big stink.

But it was just Yak being excited about a clutch goal, so I think players are fine. It's the media trying to make more out of it that it is for ratings and web hits.

And they know how intense the Canadian rivalries are, especially in their own conferences, so they know it'll spark debate.

It is who he is, he is a passionate player, he did it because he was excited for himself and the team, not to spite the Kings. If he did something and then chirped their bench I'd have more of a problem than what he did. It was an emotional game against the defending cup champs, it was a massive goal for him and the team. If other teams don't like it, **** 'em if they can't take a joke.
