I don’t see how it’s scummy if it’s within the rules. I’d want the Ducks to do the same thing if they were in that spot.

It’s the NHL’s job to enforce, teams are assumed to be rational actors looking out for their best interests in a league where every other team is trying to beat them.
I hope our team never does that scummy BS

It would be difficult to fake. What wouldn't be difficult is faking just how much recovery time is needed for a ruptured spleen. There's a ton of gray area they can use to manipulate the time he needs on the IR. He might have been ready to play a week before the season ended but they can get a doctor to say, "We're not clearing him yet just to be safe." If he was healthy a week early but kept on IR, that should be a problem.
I mean there are established healing periods. A week +/- is arguable. Unless they significantly overshoot typical healing time then I'd find it hard argue the point. At the end if the year he still missed significant time and an extra week only effects 2-3 games while the whole point of LTIR is to allow teams to do something for the other 18-19 games so that an injury doesn't derail the whole season. All that said, I do feel the there should be some sort of function cap in the playoffs.

then you don't want it bad enough.

you should always be trying to do anything within the rules to give your team an edge
I don’t get the moral argument, nobody is being harmed here lol. And every team in the league is free to do this. There are definitely times to take the moral side (although not doing so is often illegal) but doing so here just seems a bit sanctimonious to me.

This game is the perfect example of what Hampus could have been.

He has so much offensive upside that he never uses. A perennial 40/50+ point guy if he just decided to not be that always at home guy and defer to everyone else.

John

OK, I was damn close. I’m doubling down. The Hampster for the winner.
