So far most of the teams I wanted to lose have; especially Kings and Preds.

I’ve never hated Vegas. I’m less fond of Dallas, so I don’t mind if they lose.

Either way, I’m hoping both are facing a rebuild as we come up. But Dallas has been amazing with their picks and will be more formidable for years to come. They will be a nemesis for us in a few years.

I’ve found this interesting too. Dallas has been a pretty fierce rival over the years for the Ducks and they used to have some distasteful players like Antoine Roussel and Steve Ott, probably others too. I don’t even think Vegas games feel that intense for the Ducks but we’ve been bad since they joined.

Vegas is kinda annoying because they’ve had so much success early but everything they do is technically within bounds, it’s up to the NHL to enforce the rules better or change them. But other than that yeah I’m surprised how a lot of people here are just kinda blindly rooting for Dallas.

Yeah. And Garbutt taking out Robidas was pretty heartbreaking.

Ribeiro comes to mind as well

This isn't directed at you because you are far from the only person to say it, but I really hate this argument.

So many terrible things have been done that are technically not illegal. To not play April 18 and then pop up on April 22 clearly requires some degree of fibbing and colluding IMO and it's really scummy, regardless of whether or not it's "within the rules."

I don't really want Dallas to win, I just want Vegas to lose. Honestly, there's no team left in the playoffs that I want to win, I dislike them all for one reason or another.

I don’t see how it’s scummy if it’s within the rules. I’d want the Ducks to do the same thing if they were in that spot.

It’s the NHL’s job to enforce, teams are assumed to be rational actors looking out for their best interests in a league where every other team is trying to beat them.

i have no hate for dallas at all. the late 90s-early 00s were a long time ago and they don't have anyone their roster who i have reason to hate

plus they built their team on great scouting and you can't help but root for that
This is exactly how I feel. Other than Benn I don’t dislike anyone on the Stars, and at least they are organic and built through their own system.

Kind of cool how a Texan team drafted a guy named Wyatt, a cowboy name like Wyatt Earp.
He turned out to be better than a lot of picks in the top10 of 2021.

Is Silovs going to be playing the trīdeksnis?

(I realize Latvian Independance Day is different from Restoration of Independance Day but I so rarely get to make this reference)

Oh my god, I had started to watch Community some time ago but dropped it. Trīdeksnis is is absolutely in some of the celebrations
Thanks for being aware of the difference :) we usually use Trīdeksnis and similar stuff in events like these:

I don't think people are blindly rooting for Dallas. Vegas is just the up jumped, precocious newcomer who has continuously rubbed our nose in the fact that they were immediately better than us. And while I hate Dallas, they also haven't really been a rival for the Ducks in over 10 years.

I don't want Dallas to win. But someone has to, and better them than Vegas.

Didn't Verbeek suggest there might be some simple rules tweaks coming to fix that? Like a game day lineup "salary limit" of sorts?
I think so and it’d be a good rule. But until then it’s fair game, no problems whatsoever with teams like Tampa and Vegas

That's my point though - something can be within the rules and still be scummy.

I feel like it would be pretty difficult to fake a ruptured spleen.
It would be difficult to fake. What wouldn't be difficult is faking just how much recovery time is needed for a ruptured spleen. There's a ton of gray area they can use to manipulate the time he needs on the IR. He might have been ready to play a week before the season ended but they can get a doctor to say, "We're not clearing him yet just to be safe." If he was healthy a week early but kept on IR, that should be a problem.
