Said it before, but the idea that Ovechkin is a better player than Crosby anytime in the last 12-13 years is pure fantasy. He doesn't drive offense. He literally doesn't do shit all for the majority of the shift while his linemate creates everything. He coasts around and then takes a shot on net after someone else did all the work.

Sorry, Ovechkin hasn't had an argument for being on Crosby's level since prior to the 2012 seasons. He went from dynamic to a more consistent Patrik Laine.

Strome-Dubois-Eller is ok. It's good enough to get you to the playoffs if you have a solid lineup throughout as we've seen, but it's not gonna win you a Cup.

Offense/Defense 9th and 10th out of the 16 teams.
Hill's an .872.
Special teams got them a round, but they're not really exceptional at anything core.

Fan base is underratedly horrendously arrogant for how crappy the city and team has been for most of their lives

They could have an 'easier' route to the SCF, depending on how the Stars/Jets series goes.

Maybe not teams specifically but wasn't there some controversy a few years ago (maybe part of the Peel thing) where it was discovered that refs keep lists of guys who they consider to be problems? On one hand something like that seems harmless enough... on the other that's essentially setting a standard game to game based on past transgressions which is very much a kind of bias.

I think even if this isn't the case and I am misremembering that there are definitely players who can barely look at another player askance without getting a 2 minute stick minor or something. On to have the opposing team illegally crosscheck the PKers on the ensuing penalty kill and somehow that's OK.

I do think there is some biasedness towards certain PLAYERS, but not teams as a whole.
I reffed for a bit and got to know and be annoyed by dudes who were constantly straddling the line and you get tired of trying to manage them and end up sending them to the box on anything questionable...

I mean... I'm sure it's irritating and f*** those guys generally lol but getting pissed and sending a guy to the box for something that probably isn't an infraction is... not really calling the game fair and even handed. We PRAISE players for straddling the line and making life hell for the opposing team, after all...

If that line shouldn't be crossed then make it more solid.

No team is able to stop them. Vegas shoulda been swept, they will probably make easy pickings against Dallas or Winnipeg next. No idea how Florida will stop them this time. Only going to get worse the more the cap rises in the coming years, they will keep making the finals probably.

McDavid and Draisaitl are already starting their decline, although they obviously are still extremely good. They don't have a ton of time left
