This year is a strange one with a lot of legit contenders it seems. 12 or 13 teams are going to finish with 100 or more points. Playoffs are going to be a bloodbath.

That's really the rub with this years Rangers. There is no doubt in my mind that they can win the Stanley Cup, but the journey there is a minefield and if they do get taken out, it will be by another very good team. Just gotta enjoy the ride while we're on it.

I was looking at their remaining schedule and it’s brutal. Going to be very hard for them to hold off VGK for that last spot in the west. I’ll be rooting hard for them for sure.

Self renting Forsberg only to collapse out of the playoffs down the stretch would be an absolutely brutal outcome for Nashville. Physical team that can defend and has a good goalie but they dont have the offensive firepower of the other Western contenders. They gave Carolina some trouble in the 1st round last year.

I'd bet they re-sign Forsberg. He turns 28 in August, so still young enough to contribute for many more years. They have 27 mil in cap space and no other players needing significant contracts.

What a fabulous let down year from the Islanders. Picked by some to come out of the East and didn’t even sniff the playoffs.

All their fans blaming the schedule and Covid like they didn't have 60+ games to make up the ground is rich. They missed their window barring some aggressive moves this summer

I'm still most afraid of Carolina, Tampa and Boston, in that order. The Rangers match up well against Boston and to a lesser extent Tampa, but Vasi can steal a series on his own for Tampa even if they're not as deep as recent years.

Carolina just gives us fits. I'm hoping that if the Rangers can win a round, someone can upset Carolina with Anderson out.

The tougher the ride, the sweeter the taste of victory! who wants an "easy ride" to the cup, anyway? Do our Rangers own anything to detect those minefields?
Will make for some great gosh darn exciting PO hockey! Hope my heart can withstand it all. Oh yeah, and my neighbors. Haha

"The Boston Bruins will continue to be without a big part of their lineup for the two-game road trip this week as David Pastrnak, Hampus Lindholm and Linus Ullmark won’t be making the trip through St. Louis and Pittsburgh.
Pastrnak and Lindholm are skating on their own and have not been ruled out for this weekend’s back-to-back games against the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens."

Since we haven't been in the playoffs for some time... how do the brackets work now?

For example purposes, using today's standings but with us in 1st place... because why not.

1. Rangers vs Boston
2. Carolina vs Pittsburgh

Is that a set bracket as in we'd play the winner of Carolina/Pitt or is there re-seeding?

there is no re-seed,
the bracket with Metro 1,2,3 and a WC is firm bracket,
as is the bracket with Atlantic 1,2,3 and a WC

assuming Fla remains #1 in East Conf, they'd play 'lower'/2nd WC

I love the crying. They whine about the 13 road games to start the season but say nothing about the next 2.5 months where they only played 4 road games. Oh and they were the only ones to be affected by covid also. I would say the Rangers had just a tough of a schedule starting 10 of 13 on the road and they had a ton of B2B games with travel all year long.

Was hoping the Coyotes could have pulled out a win against Carolina, so the Rangers could have been in first after tonight but it doesn’t look like it. CAR 3 - ARI 0 after 5 minutes in the 2nd.
