McDavid made it to the 2nd round in his first 6 seasons, Jordan didn't. Look, McDavid signed a long-term deal with the Oilers so he's well aware of what his future looks like. Demanding a trade seems unlikely with a 12.5m cap hit. He made his bed.
There are examples of it taking some time. It did for Yzerman and Sakic as well. But those teams showed progress while the EDM team is either stagnating or regressing after 7 years of McDavid. Can’t forget about Drai either, who has 3 yrs left on his deal. I feel like this situation can come to a head much quicker than people think.
