Give Makar the Norris after that goal, which I just saw.
It’s a great play but Pionk did this in Overtime as well. You can make greats plays with that much open ice. Makar is a good Dman but I just am not impressed with his overall game. Avs fans just want to circle jerk his points production but that’s not what the Norris is about. Best Dman in the league doesn’t mean most points scored by Dmen.

You are correct. Fox has 35 points in 34 games and Makar has 28 points in 25 which are comparable offensive numbers. Fox is clearly better defensively but that won't matter to the media who continue to fellate Makar because of his 14 goals. The media is dying to vote Makar for the Norris and if he stays healthy he will probably win it if they have similar numbers at the end of the year.

Where are you getting this notion that Kakko is a better defensive player? Hughes is an absolute take away machine, he was 4th in the entire league last year in total takeaways and is a threat to steal the puck and transition to the o-zone everytime he's on the ice. I think you're just looking at their body types and declaring Kakko is better defensivly because he's a bigger player.

I think pretty much every organization is taking Hughes over Kakko as it stands today. I don’t think Kakko goes top 5 in a redraft. Of course, things can change.

Tippett has lost the room. I often say the GM/President bear the most responsibility when a team falls apart like the Oilers are. But in this case, I think the roster is pretty good. The issue appears to be the coach in this case. I’d bring in Paul Maurice. A players coach. And I think they’d profit.

Yep. Hamilton/graves were solid adds. I’m not a big Smith fan. We’ll see how Luke Hughes progresses.
But that center/fwd core is stacked.
Hughes, Hischier/Mercer/Bratt/Wood/Holtz...
There’s a lot of good there to build on
They have some speedy Russian kids that play well against us .

Trouba should have been challenged by Nurse for his actions on McDavid .....that's a bad sign I think for a contending club and the league superstar ...franchise player . I guess guys are watching the highlites of Trouba and the Reaves fight videos....last year we would have been creamed for touching McDavid.

The Rangers took liberties with MC David and Drai and no one did anything about it. Then tipper goes and throws his goalie under the bus in a 4-1 loss of which 3 goals he had very little chance on. Have to fire him

and the friggen penguins just don’t go away do they.

That Makar goal was good, but calling it goal of the year is more Makar bias. The goal McDavid scored on us in the first matchup was and is the goal to beat. That was a sick goal.

Everybody, go to town. I'd respond to him directly, but their boards are soft and banned me for liking an anti-Isles comment. Also, enough of us know that McDavid to NYR or anywhere is extremely unlikely

I seriously don't know where the McDavid trade talk came from. Draisaitl, if anything, will be the one they cut bait with (because he left via FA to chase $13M). McDavid will be Crosby'd, and stay with EDM forever.

What’s everyone’s take on the Kings prospects? A lot of comparisons to our org due to the amount of draft picks. I don’t watch them a ton but statistically none of them have made an impact yet.

I can see McDavid going to the Kings. Rivalry with Vegas and Eichel would be golden.

Otoh I wonder if the money Canadian tv pays for the rites to broadcast the NHL is tied up in McDavid being on a Canadian team.
