The Panthers team is tough not to like. They play a good hockey game, have some great individual talents but also get success from everywhere. You’ve got Huberdeau and Barkov. Ekblad was having a Norris conversation season before his injury last year. But then you get Bennett to come in and turn his career around. You get a gem in Weegar developing solidly on the blue line. You get production from cast offs like Verhage, Duclair, Vatrano, Acciari. Likeable squad. Lundell looking really good. 6 points through 6.5 games so far.
Oh it will be very easy to hate them in 2 days ;)

thats the difference between a team like us and Florida. They have their producing top guys AND that depth.

Our kids our suppose to be that depth... we're obviously not there yet.

It's amazing how that franchise turned around.

Does Quenneville get a job again? maybe out of the spotlight as a consultant or something
Yeah, Quenneville might be done as far as head coaching goes.

They're off to an impressive start, but the big test for Florida will be winning some playoff rounds. They've made it past the 1st round only once in their history, back in 1996 when they went to the Stanley Cup finals. Missed the playoffs entirely 20 out of 27 seasons. Easily the least successful of the early 90s expansion teams if you go by playoff wins.

I've been watching their games as much as I can this season and Barkov is just great in all zones. The type of 1C you win a championship with.

Looks like Raanta got shaken up in a collision with Lomberg. Wow Lomberg got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for it.

They are all on the same page. Stark contrast to the Rangers currently.

Still remember Fast's roast of the Rangers when he said he is in a team that works hard now.
It's contagious. When people start pushing themselves, it becomes addicting. There's almost a' high' from battling and pushing through with your teammates.

We're not that as a team. We're soft and lazy. We are doing just enough to get by. One thing we have full control over, as a team, is effort. We have a failing grade there imo. We will never win unless that changes. why should I kill myself if the guy next to me isn't? if our 'leaders' aren't? human nature

Some players just don't get it till they get it... if they ever get it at all. JT Miller may never have become the player he is now on NYR or TBL. He himself said he needed that wakeup call. Maybe TDA gets it now. If he does, he will really help that team and get himself a giant contract. He has only one RFA season after this one. CAR may have real trouble keeping him if he is worth keeping. What's his favorite team? PHI?

What is there to wake up from? He was a great player for us. All of the other stuff was irrelevant. Some people legit still shit on him for saying something bad when he was like 16 years old and for being vocal about politics that aren't popular. None of that shit matters. If the goal is to have the greatest human beings MAYBE it would matter, but the goal is to win.

Book it: if the Rangers had Raymond and another team had Laf...Raymond would be floundering here and Laf would be prospering elsewhere.

31 out of 31 teams draft Laf 1OA.

It's a Rangers issue, not a Lafreniere issue.

These comparisons of how other players in their draft class are doing it dumb and so is wishing the Rangers would have drafted ______ over Laf or _____ over Kakko. The Rangers picked the overwhelming consensus picks. Everything after that is separate and should have no affect on their original draft position.

Yeah… irrelevant. That’s why he’s still in NY playing hockey, and didn’t have to take a one year 1mil contract with Carolina despite his massive talent. You can SAY it doesn’t matter, but clearly the reality is that it DOES matter. You don’t accept that? Changes nothing. You can SAY “water isn’t wet” all day long, no one has to convince you otherwise for that to be incorrect.

And Carolina is reaping the benefits while we're losing 6-0 to Calgary. Yes, irrelevant.

The Deangelo stuff will never stop. He is a great player, but he is the type of player that will play for many different teams throughout his career. He may even subconsciously enjoy the change of scenery every few years and thus doesn't even know that he pushes himself out more-so then the team pushing him out.

I'm sure he is a nice guy, but he has a temper and his borderline engagements with fans can be immature and, frankly, beneath him. Challenging fans to a fight, trolling, etc. Its pathetic for a regular person. Even more for a pro athlete. Thats on top of arguing with coaches, teammates, etc.

Ovechkin is just a goddam machine. 36 years old. 11 goals, 20 points, pacing for over 100 points right now. Unlikely to keep it quite that high, but I’m not surprised at all if he hits 50 again. Unstoppable.
