Aren’t training staff kinda doctors though? My physiotherapist is on the training staff for the Vancouver Giants
Unless your physiotherapist is an MD they cannot prescribe meds. A PT/OT may have a doctorate, but cannot prescribe, or is using an MD's DEA number to prescribe (their supervising provider).
There is likely a team doctor on the flyers, but no player or person should ever be handed meds and just told to take them without being given information as to what they are.

Nolan Patrick had head and migrane issues. An MD is trained in both interactions with other meds, and also some level of diagnosis for those.
PT/OT staff are likely not.

This is the same shit that got the saints in massive trouble with the DEA.

If I am George McPhee or Kelly McCrimmon, I am calling Lehner's agent and asking him to tell his client to shut his mouth or I am going to do it. It won't be nice. Lehner will be complaining about me in the next podcast. We aren't paying him $5M per to talk about other teams. Shut up and stop the puck.

This is the silliest thing ever. Nolan patrick is his new teammate. He finds out that this kid was essentially f'd over by "medical/support staff" and it was either kept quiet or the kid thought it was normal.
So this guy who's been fighting for good causes in the NHL already, see's an actual cause that he can lend his name and attention to, and he should shut up and play?

If the reports are accurate, AV and his staff might not be looking at suspensions, but criminal trials.
The shut up and play argument makes sense if lehner was tweeting while playing. he's protecting young athletes who may currently being harmed by psuedo treatment by unlicenced providers.

I would caution against talking shit about the Flyers. Something tells me the Rangers will have their time in the Sun.

You are dead wrong.

Players have a right and a responsibility to speak up when these kind of abuses are taking place. If I am an NHL executive, league, team or otherwise, I want to find out more. In fact, I’ve already heard that the NHL is sending representatives to meet with Lehner.

This is serious stuff. The league wants to know about these situations and they will investigate. This hits close to home because Vigneault is not that far removed from the Rangers.

Perhaps Lehner could have chosen a different way to share this information but he has done a hell of a lot of good in the past with his public revelations. I wish the world had more Robin Lehners.

I’m sorry, he’s a grown ass man. Were they forced down his throat? Was he threatened?

everyone is a victim nowadays. No one is accountable for their actions.

it’s bad. I’m not arguing it or condoning the behavior. Airing it out on Twitter is meh. I guess it’s the age we live in
there is a massive power imbalance between individual athletes and the old boys executive and office club. it is absolutely not that simple.

Sorry but this is complete bullshit. Team doctors have to report every single detail of what they are providing/prescribing to the PA and to the states appointed doctor of medicine for sporting athletic associations. It’s the same way in every sport. Also the player/patient has the right to reject the offered prescription and get a second opinion. (Example in the NHL specifically is Jack Eichel)
No one is forcing the player to take that. This is going to blow up badly in their faces.

I will say some team doctors are complete jackasses and try to cheat the system but that shit gets snuffed out real quick.

If the training staff and not the doctors are handing out pills there's gonna be a big issue here.

So it was BS?
IDK. He said he had a source outside of Lehner but that apparently was BS. Doesn't necessarily mean Lehner is full of it, but who knows at this point. And looks like he may have deactivated his Twitter--EDIT: no, just made it private.

Caps have been hot garbage so far in pre-season, so naturally they gonna put the boots to us game 1

The league doesn't want to know about this stuff...the league wants people to think it wants to know about it...until it sweeps it all under the rug. Just like the aliu stuff and the Blackhawks stuff.

They're great at feigning genuine concern and then hushing everything up under the guise of investigation

Lehner's job is to stop the puck. Writing the NHL gossip column is not his business. He feels Eichel should be allowed to have the disc replacement surgery. The team is on the hook for the $50M. They have a major say. The disc surgery has never been done on a professional athlete. I am not talking about some crazy guy who fights in a cage every couple of months or a handful of times per year or some kid who played college hockey. Eichel has the disc surgery and it's not successful. What happens then? The team is still paying and he went against their medical advice.

You don't think Vegas doesn't regret signing Lehner to a 5 year contract for $25M? Vegas tried to trade Lehner to the Devils prior to trading Fleury to Chicago. 8-9 months after Vegas signed Lehner. They tried to trade him and his contract.

The Eichel thing started this entire situation.

Vegas is paying him to stop the puck. Just do your job. Fleury outplayed him last season.

The allegations about the meds should be seriously looked at.

The insinuation Lehner made about AV is just a bullshit potshot if it’s anything to do with Nolan Patrick. Lehner’s never played for AV and is not speaking from direct experience. Patrick has had numerous documented health and injury issues that speak to his problem becoming an established NHL player. Why Lehner would decide to chirp about that I don’t know but AFAIC it’s absurd and he probably owes AV an apology.
