Everyone always talks about getting shut out in games 5 and 7 vs Tampa in 2015, but can we talk about giving up 6 goals in back to back games in games 2 and 3 that series? If Lundqvist puts up even a decent performance in one of those games, we win in 6, and aren't having this conversation.

They lost three home games in a series. Nobody's fault but their own.

Not going to rehash this for the 9 millionth time but we all wanted Sergachev over Howden/Hajek. You can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one gets filled first. Tampa was not parting with Sergachev.

Sergachev and Point were never on the table. Heck, I don't know if Foote even was.

The Rangers have a more realistic shot at landing Krebs or Glass in the next few weeks than ever getting TBL's main young studs.

Armia not traveling to Tampa. He's extremely important on their 4th line and PK... losing him is a hell of a loss.
Canadiens' Joel Armia: Placed on COVID-19 list

This is unfortunate for the final. Armia already had Covid and a concussion earlier this year, and now this. Great player, unlucky dude.

With having had Covid and the two shots you'd think the odds that hed' get it again are minimal. Let's hope it's a false positive based on virus residue, the tests are far from 100% accurate.

Anyone who claims to be a Rangers fan that roots for the Islanders in any capacity is not a Rangers fan.

It’s that f***ing simple.

Let’s go Bolts. Get it done.

Personally, I don't really care who wins. The team I dislike the most (PIT) won back-to-back cups half a decade ago. Oh well. Let people root for who they want without questioning their fandom.

But I'm happy for all the Ranger fans who wanted the Islanders to lose.

Yes but you have the privilege of not living here in NY. It’s like me as a Roma fan, I hate Inter more than I hate Lazio mostly because they’ve been very successful during my lifetime at Roma’s expense, but if I tell that to a true blue Roman they’ll think I’m crazy.

I know we’re asking a lot from the hockey gods after they delivered us from a possible Isles SCF but… I’m feeling greedy. Montreal cannot win the cup, Pls Tampa crush them and out them in their place.

Bingo. I had the "pleasure" of going to the Coliseum with my brother as a kid in the 90's and trust me if you witnessed what I witnessed you would never root for the Islanders and my brother is a big Islander fan.
The atmosphere in that building was nuts and dangerous those days. Would put it up there with wearing my Ranger gear at Flyers games in Philly.

I lived in the Netherlands as a kid growing up and my team's biggest rival winning the championship didn't bug me as much as the Islanders winning seems to bug some Ranger fans. And that biggest rival played in the city where I grew up.

Sports isn't life.

Game 2: MSL crashes into Hank on the breakaway for the 1st goal, Johnson was about 4 feet off Lundqvist when he shot the puck on the 2nd goal, Staal slips in the offensive zone going for the puck which lead to a 2 on 1, no one picks up Killorn for the easy cross ice pass from Hedman for the 4th goal, Stamkos deflection off a shot from the point for the 5th goal that would've been an insane thing for a goalie to stop, Killorn scores off a rebound of a tough save for the 6th goal (with 2 minutes left)

I think there's more to criticize in Game 3 than 2. Like re-directing the puck to Stamkos for the 1st goal. Or the Kucherov OT goal. 100% would've liked to have that one back.

That’s how I feel. Regardless of who wins or loses, it doesn’t change anything, Rangers still missed the playoffs. I just want the off season to come, and get ready for next season.

Yes, a 24-win team steamrolled them.

Are you going to address that Chicago's dynasty was tiny and how you reconcile that with your agenda?

Nit picking lol. Way to go teach. Even when you miss the point you still try to prove you’re right. Poor kids lol

I remember I took my wife and 8 and 5 yo girls to that dump coliseum in 1995 to see a Rangers-Piles game because we were already on the Island because of a family party. We all had Ranger jerseys on and were cheering on the Rangers but not being obnoxious. These assholes behind us kept kicking our chairs, including my kids. I was nice about it a first but they didn't stop and there would have been a brawl if my wife didn't diffuse the situation. Their fanbase is full of assholes and Neanderthals. Just look at what those idiots did when the Isles won in OT the other night. I despise that team and that fanbase and always will. BTW the Rangers won that game 5-2 and Messier scored a hattrick.

Yeah, step into the Coliseum or Barclays or whatever building they're playing in a given year for a Rangers - Isles game and let me know if you don't care about them winning the Cup after the game.

I sort of get not caring about them as much if you're not from NY and have never lived in NY but if they were to win, I think the tune around here would change quickly especially when their fans start chanting 1994 or some dumb shit every time they play them.

There isn't a team I despise more in sports than the Islanders. There's been different phases where a team at a given point I couldn't stand (Phillies from 07 through 10 and Devils from 06 through 13) might have been number 1 given what was transpiring at the time but no matter what, the Isles will always be my most hated.

that was such a strange deal imo.

Tampa needed the horsepower while Rangers wanted to jump start a rebuild. I would think Tampa would have been the more desperate organization yet it appears they waited out the team desperate to rebuild.

I think many of us agree, McD wasn’t playing so well for us. He did wear the “C” so i wasn’t happy.

Is what it is and i have no sympathy for Yzerman in Detroit lol.

We have the pieces, need some changes and off we go. It’s going to be October tomorrow

As for the Cup Final, I'll be pulling for the Bolts. My disdain for Tampa has gone away over the years since every year is a year removed from 2015. Always like seeing Mac win, they beat the Islanders back to back years, and I've got a buddy who is a huge Bolts fan. That combined with the fact I'd prefer the Canada Cup drought to continue for shits and gigs, hearing potential nonsense about Price being better than Hank, and that I feel like the Bolts kind of had their Cup moment robbed last year due to the bubble makes it an easy decision.

I can’t cheer for either of these teams.

I’ll root for 7 games to prolong the hockey season.

I'm going to the beach for a week a week from now with the family. 2 of my relatives are isles fans. Texted em night of the game saying I was glad they lost for the sake of our vacation lol.

This is why I think we overrate Lundqvist in the playoffs. Every time he was in the playoffs he'd have a series like that where he just forgot how to play hockey for at least 2 games. I guess maybe with the exception of 2014 but even there, game 5 (I believe) against Montreal he got absolutely embarrassed. He was not a great playoff performer unless it was a complete do or die game. He was amazing in game 7s, no two ways about that.

I honestly just dislike Tampa and how they’ve avoided their genuine cap issues for a couple of years now. I usually hate Montreal but the youth leading the charge is a bit endearing and I like Weber. I don’t know who to root for or whether to care.

If Lundqvist wasn't a great playoff performer, this team would have gotten embarrassed year in and year out. No cup finals, maybe not even an ECF.

From 2011 to 2017, he had:

.931% in 20 games
.934% in 12 games
.927 in 25 games
.928 in 19 games
.867 in 5 games, and
.927 in 12 games.

What more do you expect?
