I think they could survive without Pesce, and that lineup could really use a goal scorer. Carolina scored 222 goals, which is pretty good, but their first line score. 1/3 of them (and 1/2 of those were scored by Aho, shooting at 18.4%).

They don’t have any bad forwards, but they’re too-heavy with not much threat in the middle-six. Foegele, Dzingel, Fast, Staal, Niederreiter, Trocheck...those guys all scored like ~10 goals each last season.

Plus if Pesce plays with Skjei he’s not going to be that valuable anyway.

Fleury - Pesce should be their middle pairing. Fleury seems to be emerging as a pretty solid #4 but will probably play bottom pair until Brindy gets tired of Skjei. The middle six, as you said, is problematic. But if Pesce is moved you have Skjei and Gardiner as a second pair unless they give Fleury the minutes and he’ll still be saddled with one of them even then.

It’s just been the same story with the Hurricanes for years. They’re continually analytics darlings, controlling play but never having the finishing ability to match it. Their current team has a strong identity: pace, pace, pace. I think they can get by while losing Necas & Pesce.

Yeah the bottom-4 defensemen wouldn’t be great but they still have arguably the best top-pair in the league. They also have a billion prospects if they end up that desperate for a decent defenseman.

I feel like the real issue would be the Hamilton and Laine contracts.

I don't see a benefit to Carolina getting Laine. That team can score plenty they need more grit and a goalie for a long run. I know "The Mike Keenan Rule" for playoffs is not absolute but in Carolina's place that does apply. Plus they're going to have to pay Laine and them trading Necas + for Laine might go down as the 2020s version of Seguin for Erickson etc.

I mean look they're going to be back in the Rangers division in probably a 8 months so I wouldn't cry if they did.....:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

That Skjei contract in a flat cap world is going to be the drizzling shits for them. Once again I go back to my previous paragraph I'm not crying about it as they're direct competition......

I think everybody outside the Cane organization knows that they need a #1 stud goalie before anything else which gets the, a few extra wins & points . Get them a goalie and they are good to go....adding a puncher would not hurt them either .

Laine = Not worth Necas or Pesce

PLD = KAKKO+
I literally said, if NYR management thinks PLD is the franchise center of the future, they should dangle Kakko. Read the "IF". Read all my posts. You'll never once see me saying that once. I actually said my gut tells me not to go higher than Cytil & ADA. Good day sir.

No. They won’t “dangle” Kakko at all. He is not going anywhere. What you are saying is extremely contradictory, literally.

What I am saying is that I know a lot less than the professional scouts who watch these players every game. It's not contradictory at all.

The point of bringing Kakko into the conversation is to say, we certainly would benefit from adding a Center for a winger. Kakko has franchise potential, if NYR management(who know more than I do) believe PLD does as well, we should think about that swap because its a net benefit to fill an important need for the organization.

If your point is to say you do not believe that PLD has franchise potential, that is fine, it's just your opinion on him. My personal opinion is that he's not quite that franchise guy, more a 1/2C guy, but I do not know everything. I do not know as much as Rangers pro scouts. Not sure why that's a surprise to anyone?

Here is what you said when replying to @Uninstaaled and then claiming you were never about trading Kakko:

You start off by putting it on the Rangers that they might offer Kakko IF they think PLD is a franchise center, but then you follow it up with “they should”, turning it into your opinion of what they should do. That is “literally” you being for offering Kakko in a deal. So it is very much contradictory to say, ‘No I wasn’t saying they should trade/offer Kakko, I was only saying I would move DeAngelo + for him’.

If you didn’t mean it that way then maybe you should’ve worded it or explained yourself better rather than telling people to read your posts, which he did.

If they have the opinion that PLD is a franchise guy they should offer Kakko. The should is dependent on that if. Regardless, we're arguing about some silly stuff on a hockey forum at 9AM. Have a good day

Brady Skjei + Joey Keane + 2019 2nd + 2020 2nd + 2020 3rd

Adam Fox + Braden Schneider + Julien Gauthier

That is true, you can extend it all the way back to Fox as well.

The two springs trades were definitely part of bigger conversations that at one time included Georgiev. But there's a good possibility the genesis was Fox conversations.

And this is why GMs always "pick up the phone" even if a player is deemed off limits (by fans mostly, but still). Trade conversations can easily shift to other players and result in different deals.

Exactly.

It's always fascinating to hear how talks evolve and morph, die and get resurrected.

Gorton especially has no problem circling back or breaking deals down into smaller, multiple components if they can't quite come to an agreement on a bigger deal.

We've seen it with Boston, Carolina, and we see his fingerprints all over those deals with Columbus from years ago.

The Florida Panthers should move to Orlando. They will make much more money there than where they are currently. Should help HRR down the line, and you can still keep the name. Start by piloting a few games, and promote it in the area.

Relocate to Orlando, rename to "Pirates", start a partnership with the Orlando Pirates football team from South Africa.

Lol you know I heard Daly on Tim & Sid saying that they are always looking for new ideas to drive more revenue, that partnership is bound to be a golden nugget.

If they do this, end up drafting a franchise talent who was born in Haiti but grew up in Canada and end up calling him a Pirate of the Caribbean I am going to pull a reverse Lias and throw you from the stands and into the ice.
