Spell checkers get Friday off at TSN ....I knew something sounded wrong when I read that to myself but just copied and stuck and forgot about it LOL !

Not that he’s played a ton or had a noteworthy career but imagine playing 10 seasons in the NHL and the, arguably, number one (mainstream) hockey news outlet in the world doesn’t know your name.

Anybody can make a mistake....I have noticed some pretty major CNN ticker mistakes before....it can happen .....but it indeed is funny and you have to wonder what happens to whoever is responsible after .

NBA but still good to know what the comparable is doing

Not bad. Push everything back by about 2-3 weeks for NHL as their operation is 3x the size of NBA.

Even if the NHL ends in early August, there can be ways to start the season in late-Oct and give the two teams that make the SCF very light schedules to begin. Kind of like what they did for the Rangers and Lightning when they played in Sweden in 2009.

Unfortunately, as has been pointed out earlier, likely can't end the season in August because of the Summer Olympics and the tv contracts.

Just go with a shortened season, end it in early June, have the draft again in the summer and start fresh in October

They are going to have to do what they have to do with shortening the season but the owners are going to fit as many games as possible in the time they are allotted. I'm sure NBC have given them a hard stop date and they are trying to figure out the schedule now.

I can't stress this enough, if they are going to cram so many games in and discourage NHL-AHL transactions, they should go to a 23 man dressed roster.

Won't work. There isn't enough room on the bench. A bunch of arenas doesn't even have room for the backup goalie to fit on the bench. Also player 21-23 probably won't even see the ice all game.

i highly doubt they would change the number of players dressed for a game...but i'd be shocked if they didn't expand the roster to give the team a taxi squad like they did in the bubble.

I think they find a way to do this, too.

One thing, though. How do you handle the cap? Teams may not be able to afford and extra 2-3 guys under the cap and it's a daily charge so it's not like you can say "only the guys who play in the game count" or whatever.

good point...maybe the extra players won't technically be on the roster and you'll still have to send down/call up players to activate them. so to move a guy to the 'taxi squad' where his cap hit doesn't count you'd need to pass them thru waivers if they apply just like if they were being sent to the AHL in a normal season.
