This is a trade that won’t help either team.
I think it will help Buffalo. 2C was a big problem for them, forced them to rush Mittelstadt before he was ready. Now they won't have to rush Cozens (or Mitts if they still have any hope for him). Eric Staal was a 1C as little as 2 years ago. Very underrated player.

Johansson is such an average player I never got the hype with that guy. Buffalo won't miss him at all.

It almost reminds me of their 1993 run. A team that overachieved, took down a giant, and lost in the conference finals to the eventual cup winner before coming back down to earth.

Yeah well I don't have faith in Tampa right now. I don't see sustained success for the Islanders but this unique set of circumstances is playing right into their favor, they can easily beat Dallas in a final.

I hate Tampa much more than the Islanders, but mainly I'm hoping for a 10 overtime period game 7 and for the winner to show up to the Cup Finals malnourished and emaciated.

But he did because they physically wore him down. Im not saying they will win but they are in game 7 and its happening for a reason.

Next game is game 6 and they didn't wear him down. He went awkwardly into the boards very early in game 2 and he's been nursing that injury since, whatever it is. Fact is in the 2 games that he did play in Tampa has outscored the Isles 12-3. This is no coincidence.

Speculation that Eric Staal will retire and this trade made sure Minnesota got something back. And Buffalo saves a lot of money.

Edmundson at 4x3.5 with a 10-team no trade? Awful contract. Edmundson isn't good.

Not sure what the Wild are getting out of the Staal trade outside of not having to do a 35+ UFA contract (Johansson is going to be 30 by the next season). Staal is also a much better player AND cheaper salary-wise and on the cap.

Johansson has always been too much of a passenger for me. Staal's pretty damned old though. They're probably hoping he can put up 45-50 points and calm Eichel down a bit.

Kypreos also said today he’s hearing it’s a rib issue with point
If that is the case (and yes I know rib injuries can be painful) he probably would have played game 5 if it was 2-2 and not 3-1. Now game 6 is a must because as the saying goes any freaking thing can happen in game 7. If its "just" ribs and not hip or groin he has to play thru the pain.

Between Weber, Petry, Chiarot and Edmundson they now have a veteran top 4. Romanov coming in.
I've never seen a team so big on d and so small up front lol.
Jokes aside I knew Edmundson was gonna get a nice pay day. Probably a bit of an overpayment but he wasn't gonna cost 1.5-2 million per.

For the Ranger fans who love Kulak this is your time to make your bids.

Eric Staal not milking his whole contract. Will others who are clearly done do the same?

Totally forgot the Rangers had Eric Staal. What a forgettable 25 games.

trades being made and the Finals haven’t even been played lol.

Imagine the Isles, who have some cap issues, wanting to make a move yet can’t b/c they’re still playing.

What are the chances that Laine ends up in Buffalo?
and what are they giving up in return?Would be interesting tho. It would have to start with Cozens, possibly the 8oA and continue to add.
I'm not the biggest Laine fan but seeing some trade proposals from some fans on HF (especially Habs fans) make me really laugh. Like Domi or Danault, Mete plus 16oA for Laine lol
