Those aren't circumstances, thats game planning. They had the caps numbers and got the right bounces against philly are ways of saying neither team had an answer for their style and that the islanders were better at capitalizing on their chances. If they end up putting out tampa(i still dont think it will happen) but they will have put three teams out because they had Wash numbers, got bounces against Philly and because Tampa had injuries, those arent great excuses.

Out of curiosity: how good do you think the Isles are?

Like a top 15 team? Top 10? Top 5?

I'm sorry, I just think you're over-stating what they're doing/what they've done.

I mean, I give them credit for overachieving. But I kind of see Tampa playing down far more than I see the Islanders playing up.

Agreed, although they take their pound of flesh

No it doesn't.

He's gotten his teeth kicked in when he's been on the ice. Knowing you, you're probably confusing him with Gourde.

You may have figured everything out, i was super confused, Gourde, Goodrow, Gourdrou, Gaudreau, was it Johnny Hockey i was thinking about? Now im just surprised Johnny Gaudreau was still in playoffs considering he played for the flames, thanks for clearing it all up for me with your massive brain :thumbu:

So basically they are here because 2 teams played down to them and the other was a series of good bounces...got it.

I'd expect the casual fan to be able to differentiate, Let alone one with a fictitious memorial cup on their resume.

Had the Caps numbers.

Got the right bounces against Philly.

Still never a moment where I thought there was some masterful execution of a game plan or strategy that gave them a clear advantage.

The irony is that you'd almost never guess they're trailing 3-2 in this series or that we were once bounce yesterday from talking about them in the past tense today.

they’re too close to the Cup for comfort.

How much money do the islanders have to come up with for Barzal and Pulock? 14 15 16 mil?

Devon Toews a couple mil?

should be fun

Here's bottom line:

We are at defcom 3 this very moment. If by chance let's say Point doesn't play again and Islanders win Game 6, we are looking at defcom 5 and there will be alot of concern no matter who in here is just shrugging this off as flukish, they got lucky....yada yada yada.

They will be one game from the Cup and IMO, they or Tampa whichever of the two gets out of the east is beating the Stars.

So the Bolts better get it done tomorrow nite cause I for one do not want to watch a game 7 sitting on pins and needles.

I mean Jesus h Christ...all I asked the hockey gods for was a stress free birthday. Instead they laughed and giggled at me and gave me the finger and so now I'm annoyed and starting to get real nervous that some major shit is about to go down.

I'd feel alot better if I knew Point was playing...even an 80% Point I really really would!

Staal has a lower cap hit than Johansson so Guerin actually took on cap. Johansson is 6 years younger. Both players UFAs in 2021. I like the trade for Buffalo, get Eichel some help behind him at center.

its DEFCON*

But yes, I agree. Islanders are winning the cup AINEC, because this summer has gone a little too well for the Rangers, there needs to be some suffering.

Staal is definitely better.

why does Minnesota do this and how does Staal not have buffalo on his no trade list?

Colin Miller for Marc Staal. Buy out Miller. Staal has only $3.2M real dollars. $1,291,667 cap hit for 4 seasons. Eric doesn't like to play against Marc because he tends to ruin his career.

and pretty much zero picks in a very good draft which will for sure set them back unless Tampa chokes again then all of that means nothing.

Minnesota opening up a center position for another slightly above average center in Ryan Strome.

there’s no question the islanders window is right now. And that’s about it. Win now or forget it. You’re in trouble for a few years here
