Who the hell would want to play against Columbus?! My goodness they are relentless and physical.
Also how about that Fiala trade. Fenton got his share of crap but that is a great trade.
Minnesota looks really good right now

So far Leafs, Pens and Oilers are very much in play for the 1OA, so that's cool...

Some thoughts...

Philly basically has this year and next to win the Cup before they get AV's stench all over them. AV's first year with a team is always the best one.

Torts is the perfect coach for a team like Columbus. He has the right personnel for his style of play. Good on Jarmo to build a team that fits a philosophy and hiring the right coach to make it work.

Pittsburgh is still going to be a threat as long as Crosby and Malkin are playing at a high level.

Ditto Washington with Ovenchicken, Backstrom, and Kuznetsov

You have Trotz having the Islanders play perfect playoff shithouse hockey. When do the young B's (Barzal and Beauvillier) ask out because they can only top off at 50-60 points or one or both get riddled with injuries to the point that they're useless players at 26 years old?

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Boston is bounced in the first round. They made all those moves at the deadline to make another run at it this year and then COVID happened and now you have 4 or 5 teams in the East that I believe can and should beat them.

Dibs on Auston Matthews as soon as he asks out of Toronto in three years after three years of round 1 and 2 exits and missing playoffs once in that time span.

Montreal is going to be gifted Lafreniere if they don't beat Pittsburgh and it's going to be super obnoxious for them to have a Quebecois superstar to build around.

Is this the offseason that Nashville goes nuclear and blows it all up like the Rangers did two to three years ago?

Arizona has a real shot to keep Hall if they can pull out a series win against Nashville.

I don't buy the Gaudreau trade rumors one bit. Calgary is still in a stage of buying. They're a better team than they showed this year.

Vancouver looks like they're still 2 or 3 pieces away from making noise.

The Jets' lack of depth was their undoing this year and they're going to be exposed without Scheifele, who's somehow still one of the most underrated players in the league.

Yeah, except for Edmonton, no one has looked less sharp than the Rangers through the first go round. Hoping tomorrow brings something different.

Gonna be super entertaining if they somehow can win two more games and have no chance at Lafreniere or if they get him he becomes the next Louis Leblanc. They are already starting to get nervous that the Leafs could snag him.

Good! Blow it up garbage Nashville.

Just watched Canucks Wild highlights. Nice to see that other teams have Staalian pylons on D too. Edler got walked at least twice in one period.

And their size.

The Rangers are NOT a small team, specifically at forward. Panarin, ADA and Fox are on the smaller size but they also employ Trouba, Staal, Gauthier, Kreider, Kakko, Zibanejad and Chtytil. The difference being some of those guys do not go out of their way to be physical.

.

Until now, i never saw the obvious parallel. Solid team for many years, anchored by a solid group of defenders and great goaltending. Good but not elite forward talent. won one presidents trophy, threatened to go far in the playoffs with a few conference finals appearances, got to the cup finals one year, but could not get over the final hump.

I'd probably saw our defense is a bit undersized, but I don't know if I'd say our overall roster is small.

I would agree with the Rangers self-assessment that they could benefit from a few more north-south players, and guys who are going to do some of the dirty work to complement our high-end finesse players.

This I would agree with, but we've been saying this for 3-4 years, really since Prust/Boyle were around. Part of the issue with rebuilding is having almost too many young players, some of whom are more accustomed to playing a more skilled game trying to get their feet wet in the bottom-6.

Also jettisoning Smith/Staal would do wonders just for the mobility on the back-end.
