Why exactly? After 69 games in the regular season they were playing really well and they were right there with teams like the Piles and Canes. I guess lets throw those 69 games away and focus on the 1st real game they have played in 4 months.

Yep. The past is irrelevant. They look like shit when it matters most. And don't give the they are rusty bs because almost every other team has looked 10 times better than the Rangers.

It's ONE game and they lost by ONE goal. Lets not overreact. They proved over the course of the season that they do belong. That's my point. They are every bit as good overall as quite a few teams in this tournament. They may not win this series because Carolina is a pretty good team but that's ok.
 
I mean, all season we lived or died by our top 6 (excluding a very few outlier games). That reality is being magnified this past week with Buch being the only exception so far. Add to that Fox and TDA looking off and it isn't really a hard case to crack. I'm more concerned with why the players I called out look so unprepared. Coaching, lack of leadership etc?

Agree. We were told that Wednesday was "just an exhibition it means nothing" and they come out game 1 and look just as bad as they did on Wednesday. Just a disgraceful performance by 90% of the team and if they play like this again tomorrow they deserve all the criticism they will get.

It's really not fair that the one of the Leafs or Jackets have to go home before the playoffs even start. Meanwhile slugs like the Oilers and Rangers get a chance they really shouldn't have.

Which is a weird take because the Oilers had more points than both those teams (or they'd be equal if you assume both the Leafs and Jackets won their game in hand)

If the season was finished both Oilers and Rangers probably wouldn't of made the playoffs. Because the games would of gotten tighter and tighter. Rangers and Oilers are not playoff teams. That will show in this round results.

Why are teams like Columbus and Toronto so much more deserving to be here than the Rangers? They both had 2 more points than the Rangers when the season was called.

Which may be the case in the end, but I'm not sure how you'd go about leaving out a team who had more points at the break.

I honestly don't think they should of done a play in series. But at least for the Oilers sake they will be saved the embarrassment of getting absolutely train wrecked by the top team in the west.

You do realize that was almost a season ago right? A lot can change in a couple of months. If the Ranger were playing the Jackets or Leafs they'd be getting their ass's handed to them.

Im basing it off the season that just ended and presenting numbers and facts. What else are we supposed to base it off of exactly? The one game that they played in the last four months?
 
Shame, Toronto could have won that game 1-0 in OT with George in net or McDonagh on the top pairing.

It's a new season so yes. But they have played 2 shit games. I know a lot of Rangers fans don't want to admit it but we don't belong here. Teams showed up ready to play. Meanwhile the Rangers are playing like its preseason.

Yes, so they are only as good as their last game. Got it. So if they beat Carolina tomorrow then we belong right? Is that the way it works now?
