Honest question, because I dont recall, but did we try to extend Hayes prior to his contract year?
I think they did want to extend him, but it would have been too pricey, which was their own fault after that one-year deal. Will have to go digging a bit to see what was coming out around then.

They should have gone long-term on him after his two-year bridge was up. Would have been less than $6M AAV easily.

Lots of ex-Rangers looking very good with their new teams. Miller, Skjei, Talbot, Hayes. Crazy that Miller was thrown into the McDonagh deal. Also hated that we didn't sign Hayes. I think the focus was on what he wasn't instead of what he was.
Skjei was not looking good in Carolina. He looked good against us because literally everyone on the Canes looked good for some reason in that series. Let’s see how he plays against the next team .. can’t disagree with the others though. Hayes we knew was good though we just didn’t want to pay him

At least we should have some more clarity about where the team picks by the end of today, assuming these teams up 2-1 in theirs series' can finish the job

If the Pens get eliminated by the Habs, why bother even having the lottery? We all know who’s gonna get the number one overall....
I’d be pissed of Pitt won the top pick but ultimately I care more about if the Rangers have a chance for a top 10 pick

so go Montreal lol

bobrovski will go down as the worst contract in nhl history. he wasnt even great his final year in columbus. 6 more years and 10m per on that contract after a disaster of a first year.

The Bobrovsky is even worse when you consider the Panthers used their first round pick on Spencer Knight like a week before the deal was signed

That deal screams “well Panarin was supposed to come here too, guess we’ll just take the one”

That's not true. I am a Cane's season ticket holder. He played very well with them.
