If theres any justice in the world the Devils drop the maximum number of spots in the lotter a la Los Angeles. They deserve nothing good.

God forbid if those pukes from Jersey won the lottery again or even second and got Lafreniere or Byfeild by continuing to be such a horrific hockey club for all these years, I'm not sure I'd be allowed to be here at HF anymore as I'd have committed way too many infractions to be allowed to post anymore...lol

The impact is harder than a regular hit, and a lot of times the player making the initial hit isn't expecting it. You can absorb a hit without it. I don't see what the purpose of it is besides trying to injure the other player.

I have played and had it happen to me. It was my fault for not realizing what the heck was going to happen or could happen. The problem is most players brace for the impact and not actively try to hit vs. get hit. It's a clean play, no skates left the ice and no elbows were thrown. I bet out of the 1000's of hits Palat threw this happened a handful of times.

Yeah this is exactly my point. I guess I'm in the minority.

I mean, I understand what you're saying, but hitting is a violent act all around and the guy throwing the hit needs to know that he isn't acting with impunity. There are consequences to throwing a hit including - putting yourself out of position (Beukebooming), potentially injuring your opponent, and potentially injuring yourself). All part of the calculus.

Good God almighty, can we please stop with the f***ing William Moneylander deals. Want no piece of him, I don't care how good his contract is.
If we need another top-6 winger, we'll get him at the draft.

I think media called the league and was like: "sooo, can you like put all further trades on hold, so that we can have a broadcast on Monday? thx, bye."

they’re going to reload real fast if they get a top 2 pick.

Meanwhile, it’s possible Ottawa gets two top 5 picks.

Some rebuilding organizations could get a real jolt.

Nylander for Skjei

id rather keep Skjei. and I can't stand Skjei the past 3 seasons. i rather get players that make the Rangers harder to play against. Nylander too soft for my liking. rather go after Max Domi to be honest

Skjei to the Habs for Domi???

Rangers need more gritty skilled top 6 forwards.

Teams that score lots of goals are also hard to play against

I get the sentiment, but after having a catastrophic void of high end skill on this team for the past decade or so, I want as much of it as I can possibly get

Nylander if he does not score is not pretty useless in my opinion. Domi has grit along with his skill. with his dad being a former Ranger, it would be cool to see Domi in NYR and flourish here. i think a Skjei for Domi deal can happen at some point if the Habs wanna make a change. Nylander is a good player, but not a player teams win with in my opinion. if he does not score, he does not do other things to change momentum of a game.

it’s possible our offensive defensemen can be the difference. Once Lundkvist is here along with Miller that should really help. Those long 7 game playoff series were brutal working for so few goals

Dude I’d love to have Domi come here and yes over Nylander but realistically, there is no way the Habs are taking just Skjei for him...not a chance in the world. I mean shit Domi is at worst their 3rd best player and it can be argued he’s Montreal’s best and most talented skill position player.

Only way we’d be able to tempt Bergevin to send us Domi would be if we sent them a Fox or a combo of Miller and someone else...take your pick.

Not a chance Gorton does that either. I just don’t see us and Montreal as good dance partners.

Well that’s exactly what I was eluding too and afraid of...the Devils even tho they can’t get out of their own way, once again getting more BS love from the hockey gods.

I could care less if Ottawa got two top 5 picks to be honest. The Devils tho...a hated rival getting that f***ing lucky again....stabbing me in the eye would feel better.

Devils are going to be Sabres South.

They suck at player development and Free Agents do NOT want to sign there. Guys who end up being any good will bolt from there the second they get the opportunity or will ask to be moved.

Its going to be glorious.

Outside of the Rangers jumping into those spots, I'll feel pretty satisfied if the following teams get the top 3 picks:

Detroit: Good for so long and tried to keep it going, but this is part of the natural cycle, and they are really bad and could use it.
Anaheim: See Detroit, just not sustained as long. Successful team that is hurting on the backend of their long term deals.
Ottawa: Their fans get f***ed all the time and honestly their team seems to play really hard in spite of the talent. Forced to always move their good players. Fans deserve better, owner is a douche though.
Minnesota: Stuck in mediocrity and never have a superstar type player. Should be punished for Parise and Suter deals, but they are the lesser of a lot of the evils down at the bottom of the standings.

LA (can suffer forever), Buffalo, NJ, Montreal, Chicago. No thank you. Chicago moved up last year and tanked forever for 3 cups. NJ is NJ and can rot. Buffalo is such a failed team that they shouldn't be rewarded for it. Montreal because is LaFreniere ends up there, we'll never hear the end of it. LA has one of the best prospect pools and they should suck for even longer.

Yeah i'd be cool with that. Although I have no love for Detroit but it would be great for Minnesota to get it.

Detroit needs something. Look at their teams. Tigers are the Tigers. Lions are the Lions. The Pistons are tanking. The Wings were the only thing they had and now it's probably worse than the other teams. The city is awful and their teams suck. If they don't get the top pick, it's just a recipe for disaster.

I hear ya about the Devils having made some pretty piss poor roster decisions, draft selections and molding talent.

That said you give a team enough kicks at the can and eventually by osmosis or simple good luck, they will get it right. Them getting a Lafrenier or Byfield would be the equivalent of the Sabres no brainer drafting of Eichel....not too much coaching necessary as these two have studs written all over them and even the Devils couldn’t f*** this up!!

I mean it’s unlikely too occur as a team can’t get that lucky every stinking year, but just the fact the Devils are going to have a decent shot at a #1 or 2 overall because they suck so bad just gets me kind of sick.

Here’s to hoping and praying the hockey gods screw them this year as no team deserves to have good shit happen for them year after year by being terrible at hockey...sorry just the way I feel.

I have a hockey group of my own albeit very small and local for the most part and mostly friends at that but many of them are well connected to the PEI guys with NHL ties . Well....most of these people know Gerard Gallant and the talk today was that he was up in Montreal last night . Anyways...they claim he told friends they were attending the Celine Dion concert last night and it was a mini vacation . LOL.....many of them are wondering just who vacations in Mtl in mid Feb ? Gerard never seemed like much of a music buff . Anyways....maybe that is why they went . Anyways....read into that what you want ....I'm just passing on his whereabouts . Edit : Dreger also mentioned his being in the city but he never mentioned the concert .
