What he said is his opinion and it was not wrong. In today’s PC ultra sensitive society it’s an issue I guess. The Pus$/&:‘ification of the world continues

I’d love to know the ages of the posters who have a problem
With Don!!
I agree with this sentiment.. but Canada doesn't technically have the 1st amendment. He spoke his opinion. Everyone wants to become homogeneous. Have an echo chamber and group think. You can see it on this board occasionally... If someone has an opposing view/opinion there's a potential meltdown/blacklisting.

I also believe an employer should have the right to fire him.

You really have to help me out here ... because I think I'm hallucinating.

Well, we are living in sensitive times. People are way too selfish about their stupidity.
It’s pointing out the irony in people thinking violating basic principles of freedom is fine as long as it’s powerful corporations doing it; especially when the people who defend this are the ones who claim these corporations are too powerful.

The old man who can do no harm? How about the voices that are causing actually harm? Or are your ears plugged toward them?

Of course not. I just realize that firing Cherry for being a racist and solving larger world problems aren't mutually exclusive.

Harm is relative. Is Don Cherry capable of starting a nuclear war with Russia? No. Can he make a lot of people feel unwelcome in their homeland using a national platform? Absolutely. We can't turn a blind eye to one just because it's not as bad as the other.

No yeah keep telling yourself that. Maybe all of these tiny victories will equate to a larger one.

Because it's fluff. The old fart means none of it.

Trust me I know what racism is. I've faced it all my life. People are being way overreacting to this situation.

Sure. I'm an immigrant and find his actions to be offensive. Different circumstances obviously but point still stands.

He absolutely means it. I think we've become so wrapped up in this debate over "PC culture" that we too readily assume comments aren't meant in earnest. This wasn't an off-color joke. He said it in a serious context and he has been for years.

Why on Earth would you think he doesn't mean it?

Again people are overreacting over stuff like this meanwhile my brothers are getting unfair treatment by so called law enforcement. And looked down upon in a daily basis. But yeah an old man who's basically almost dead makes another empty comment and everyone losses they're minds. Seems logical... **** Whatever.

Because he is a old man with no power to enforce his opinion.
