He can still come back his year if he's traded and wants to play where he's traded to. Edmonton lost all the leverage, though.

Yeah. He has an NHL clause until Dec 1st
I don't know if the "NHL clause" is being reported right. He's an unsigned RFA, so he must sign a contract by December 1st to play in the NHL this year. So it would go without saying that if he doesn't sign an NHL contract by December 1, he's going to spend the remainder of the season in Finland. That seems less lie a contractual clause in his deal and more like an acknowledgment of how the NHL's rules work.

I think the biggest issue is the compensation for Liiga. Players who are contracted while under contract in European leagues (sans KHL and NL) can be signed by the NHL but the NHL has to pay a fee to the league in question for each player that comes over. By adding the clause, it looks like that fee does not apply

Habs accidentally released their draft rankings.

They released their draft rankings for 2019 in their behind-the-scenes video and forgot to blur it

Wow Cam Ward retired. I feel old LOL. It wasn't that long ago that he was a rookie on a team many labelled "upstart" but was actually a retool from the 02 squad that went to the SCF.

He had a solid career. Always liked that Carolina team if for no other reason than Doug Weight got his Cup, and they did it without any "monsters" on D plus in a style that was sort of perfect for the post lockout NHL.

I know right? f***in' A. I remember listening to playoff games on my car's fancy new XM radio while I worked at this gas station in high school.

Those were the best playoffs. Oh man and that righteous ECF against a Sabres team that was right on the cusp of Scary Good. Imagine a world where the Buffalo Sabres win 52 games and the Edmonton Oilers are playing in the SCF. That stallion Rod Brind'Amour. Fernando Pisani scored 14 f***ing goals.

By "righteous" you mean caught just about the biggest break in hockey history because almost all our starting defensemen couldn't play in that game 7? And nobody in their right mind should consider the biggest lowlife slimeball in the history of the sport Peter Karmanos (AKA Father of the Year) getting his grubby filthy hands on the cup "righteous".
