This division has got a ton of talent in it, and it's great for the area to have NJD/NYR/NYI be relevant at the sametime.

One of my standard quotes here is the NHL is like the NFL. 2-3 years things change based on cap. In this division:

-Rangers are definitely better, but still a work in progress to being a contender. We'll have a better idea come mid-July. They might be a bubble team for a WC spot. Patience and let the kids grow.

-Devils much better on paper but they need to hope Subban hasn't lost a step or two and they get goaltending or else they'll be out of the playoffs again.

-Islanders are TBD based on Lee and Lehner. Also can't judge until Lou pulls his usual sly moves.

-Canes have some RFA work to do and if they lose Williams it might hurt more than people realize. That goaltending longterm is not optimistic.

-Flyers need to learn how to play defense

-Penguins are always a threat with the big three and will probably contend but that bottom six and consistent goaltending isn't what it was

-Captials will be a very good regular season team. They're gonna have cap issues but will figure a way out of it. That coaching staff though, I don't know.

-Jackets will take a huge step back losing Bobvorsky and Panarin.

I noticed that too. They know they're going to be rivals... no need to show fake love. Especially considering how competitive Kakko is... I think for once we got the villain in the story.

On second thought, the Devils almost certainly cut the video to make it look this way.

I’m sure there is some tension there, but I find it slightly hard to believe that Hughes is boys with Canadian rivals like Dach and Byram and won’t even acknowledge Kakk-attack.

whole lotta chest beating going on in the swamp.

Did Schneider all of a sudden remember how to play goalie again?

They still suck.

I officially dislike Jack Hughes

Devils have alot of interesting pieces. Depth is finally impressive after the Lamiorello disaster. Only major weaknesses are not enough quality triggerman (very unselfish as they routinely pass up shots) and not enough physicality in the top 6. Our wings are small relatively speaking. Kakko honestly fit the devils better than Hughes.

I think Zacha and Boqvist could really augment their games, while everyone is so focused on the mainstay players.

Up and down the line up.

You guys are really, really small and soft, especially up front. Was even more apparent on D prior to Subban who helps in that regard, though his game has slipped.

Boqvist is a good prospect but hes more of the same. Thing can change, but I really don't like Shero's roster construction. Talent and speed are great, but as it stands right now thats a group that will routinely get dummied by heavier teams.

Yup. They struggled greatly with St. Louis and Washington that keeps the puck to the perimeter. Wingers got bottled up. We don't have enough bangers. Zacha may the one player with a high skillset that can play the power game, but he runs into confidence issues.

Woah why did Vancouver sign JT Miller for a 1st. and helped Tampa with cap issues... :(
Jim Benning need to go soon!

The most important element where the Devils will succeed or fail... Goaltending.

Not that concerned, unless Schneider's lower body issues return. And Blackwood has the makings of a capable backup. I'm more worried about the lack of physicality on the wing and on D. Palmieri is not a #1 RW and he may break down playing the way he does. I hope Ray can upgrade there, trade him or drop him down to SC2. Devs could also use a solid veteran dman like Engelland to round out the youth.

Yes maybe in production, but why did Tampa decide to move him after his brief stay there?

Gotta be honest with you, I wouldn’t want him back.

I was really unimpressed with the sulking last season.

Like someone else said, the fact that the Rangers got a 1st round talent in Robertson already makes this deal a win.

So they could re-sign Point?

I don`t like the move in Nuck`s view - if they don`t reach playoffs next year Jim need to go in my opinion, and his career stats is not that great concerning point pr. game stats.

A 50-60 point player signed for 4 more years is worth well more than a 1st and 3rd. I know we are all down on Miller, but in a vacuum the Canucks got him for cheap.

Part of me wonders if Miller fan stay at that 50-60 point level without being placed into prime opportunities.

The challenge is that eventually it feels like he’s benefiting more from those opportunities than his linemates. So inevitably he gets slid down the lineup and his production and value to a winning effort slide down as well.

Why would he stop getting placed in prime opportunities in Vancouver? He’s the 2nd best winger on that team.

I have no doubt he’ll start there. He typically does.

The question is whether he will stay there. Because him sliding himself right out of those opportunities seems to be a reoccurring problem.

I guess I’m saying I’m not sure who he’d slide behind. There’s very little in that organization up front outside of Petterson, Horvat and Boeser (which is a pretty good 3). Even the 17-18 Rangers were a much deeper group.
