Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

What the f*** is wrong with our team when Reilly Smith looks like shit in Manhattan but as a Vegan dekes two Oiler defenders to next month, circumvents their goalie like a early 1900s subway turnstile, and gets generational Draisaitl to put it in the net on his behalf?

I stayed quiet when a bunch of posters were shitting on him. It's hard to come into a situation like we had & excel, but even so he still played pretty well while he was here. Not sure what anyone was expecting, but he's an ideal middle 6 guy who can slot on your 1st line if there's an injury on either wing. Great PKer, plays solid D & is all about the team. Still has an above avg wrist shot & scores timely goals.

He was fine. I just wish we were able to get more for him in the trade. Brisson's pretty much a career AHLer. Especially with this franchise. Would have preferred a draft pick.

He came to the Rangers who play way too fancy then felt like he had to be a FancyBoy too. Amazing what playing on a real team does for Howden and Smith.

I never understood why some people were so down on him. I thought he played at or above expectations for when we traded for him. Not every guy is an all-star.

If you thought Smith was trash with the Rangers, thats pretty much a you problem.

He was mostly good here save for November when everyone was bad. He didn't flip a magic switch with Vegas, this is who he is and who he was in NY for 80% if his short sting here.
His short stint here stung like a bee.

Or because he was not the solution and it was pointless to trade for him, as fine of a middle 6 guy he may be
You're agreeing with me with different words.

Him being 23, 33, 103, doesn't change what he did on the ice which is what matters. Esteem for someone today shouldn't be dependent on them being part of a 5 year plan.
