No more delays on clinching! Let's root for Washington and do this thing tonight! How can anyone forget the 3-0 debacle against the Thrashers with the playoffs on the line in 2011? Do you really want all these different scenarios to go down and then suffer a devastating loss at Carolina and then have to rely on Montreal? Following that Tampa/Carolina game in 2011 while at work was one of the more nerve-racking things that I have ever done.

REALLY??? I much prefer Washington to Pittsburgh or Boston...maybe it's just me, but that's the match up I prefer.

We stack up well against Boston. I personally prefer Rask in net over Thomas. They've had some lingering injuries this season.

Anyone know if there are plans to make up that game between Boston and Ottawa? That game could have huge implications as far as seeding goes and could also be necessary to determine the final playoff spot. Looking at their schedules though, it doesn't look possible to fit it in... Boston plays tonight and Thursday and Ottawa plays Thursday and Saturday. So the only days both teams have open are tomorrow and Friday but in either case it would mean one of the teams playing 3 days in a row. Unless they could possibly play Sunday?

Nevermind as I just saw it actually is on the schedule for Sunday.

The other day, Ranger fans were chanting "Season's over" to the devils. Even though the last game is at MSG, we don't want to play the devils again with them having a chance to end our season. We need to win tonight. If winnipeg loses in regulation, great. If not, then we win on Thursday and clinch a spot. If it comes down to Saturday, the devils are going to be highly motivated to spoil our party.

Win the next two and its no big deal when we lose on Saturday.

Win the next two so Lundqvist can take a night off on Saturday. Let him get some rest before the playoffs.

In a perfect world, by Saturday afternoon the Rangers have not only clinched, but are also cemented into what ever position they hold. No need to start Hank in a game like that. Maybe even get some kids in the lineup too ;)

Don't count on that. The Rangers position was locked in with two games left last season and Torts only rested Stepan who was injured, and Lundqvist for one game.

In a perfect word, sure. In reality, with 4 teams separated by 2 points with 3 games to go it's unlikely that our final game will have 0 playoff significance. Gotta figure even if we clinch tonight or thursday that the last game will still have the potential to effect seeding. But yeah, it would be nice to rest guys on saturday. Let the devils win...happy to see them drop a couple picks on the draft board.

You guys are funny worried about the Devils. If the Rangers cant beat a terrible Florida team or a Carolina team who is bad and who the Rangers play well against in Raleigh, the Devils are the last of the Rangers problems.

True, but then again even the worst team in the NHL wins every third game.

If we clinch tonight, I would give Henrik the rest on Thursday, but play him on Saturday. I don't like the idea of going into the playoffs with our goalie not having played in a week.

Everyone acts like playing the Peg is what we should hope for. Sure their team isn't AMAZING and I wouldn't pick them to get out of the first round, but with how well they're rolling right now, give me Boston or Montreal.

I know, we as fans are always scared of MTL, but they are reeling right now and Price looks like swiss cheese.

Yeah ive been saying this all along. Take care of business tonight.

Thats how I feel, unbelievably wanting Boston or MTL instead of the Caps or the Jets. But we have to be careful what we wish for. Boston knows how to win in the playoffs and Montreal owns us. Its a different game once that puck drops in the playoffs.

Anyone but Pitt and ill be happy though, lol

Personally, I think we're thinking about matchups too much anyway. If things are going right for the Rangers, there isn't a team they can't beat in a 7 game series. If they get in, they just need to play their game and they'll be fine.

It doesn't matter to me who they face as long as it isn't the Pens. The nice thing about 6th, is that if the 7th place team upsets as well, they then play the Pens, not the Rangers, in the 2nd round.

I'm happy with the playoffs at all with how putrid our season was looking at points.

Get more experience with the kids. Get in on a run and hopefully make a run.

Standings don't mean much to me in this shortened season. I think we can beat anyone if we play our game and Lundqvist is on. We need to dictate the pace and for the first time this season, this team seems to understand that.

The funny thing is that this is usually just the time of year where teams really start to settle into their games. In a full year, I fully believe that the Rangers would've ended up 4th or 5th, which is exactly what should have been expected of them. Washington should always have been in the conversation as the best team in the Southeast, and I would think by the end of the year, we wouldn't have seen this ridiculous potential situation of "win the division or miss the playoffs". Montreal and Ottawa would fallen back to earth a little bit. Etc, etc.

Are you not completely ****ing tired of seeing the Capitals in the first round and hearing that dumbass goal horn and lame ass air horn? I know I am.

IMHO these are the ideal scenarios for NYR in the first round.

1. Winnipeg
2. Washington
3. Montreal
4. Boston
5. Pittsburgh

We need to earn 6th to have a chance at the top two, 7th to face MTL or BOS.

Need the points, let's play a full 60 and move on.:yo:
