Agree. As good as Ovi is, that he will be spoken of in the same breaths as Wayne is beyond appalling.

I don't get this...at all. He's earned it & then some. Even if you ignore the the fact that a couple of lockouts robbed him of at least 70 goals, he's been a great player since he entered the league.

If this is remotely about his politics, then I'm done here.

I also don't know why anyone wouldn't want to see it happen other than nationalism or his politics. Would be good for the game to see a guy who everyone thought his records were unbreakable have his record broken.

The game has changed drastically a few times over since Gretz's heyday. Thus the record is rather meaningless IMO. It's not baseball.

He can flat out score....hard to take that away from his greatness in his play . I was hoping he would not break it....but I'm at the point now I don't care .Somebody down the line will break his someday......Gretz was the greatest ever...albeit I lost some respect for him getting hooked in with the casinos.
