Around the NHL (Part XLIII)

I don't know who said that about Falardeau. I just know many of the regulars at the time on this board were not fans of that pick. Big guy, couldn't score, couldn't hit. Great job. Stoll was the consensus, with Duncan Keith, Matt Greene, and Jim Slater all getting talked up heavily.

Olver was bad too. In my draft writeup I predicted he would be one of the 4 2nd rounders because of the Walt Kyle association. I never thought they'd use the first of those on him. Thought It would be Booth or Bickell. Goligoski and Krejci were on the board too. Dubinsky was being talked up a bunch and most of the board was in his corner. That was our saving grace to that round. Never liked the Byers pick, history of injuries ran in the family just like Sauer.

I believe it was Renney.

Thankfully Sather didn't hire Burke as a scout or in any capacity. Sather wanted to hire Burke after the lockout in 2005 to help him run the Rangers. Burke wanted the GM title. Dolan wouldn't OK it.

Talk about dodging a bullet.

Damn, looks rough. Hope the guy is alright.

Saw on Twitter, Artie is hurt bad, stretcher out, not sure what happened.

Good to hear he is moving and responsive.

HAHAHAHAHA doubt anyone takes that contract... anyone thinks he will retire or get bought out

“@KatieStrangESPN: #Isles DiPietro's 15-year $67.5 million contract pays him $4.5 million annually through 2021”

Apparently him and Wang are close friends, and Wang would never approve him being bought out. That's what I've heard on the Fish board anyway.

what a joke of management... close friends haha what a lame excuse. who doesnt trade or waive a player because they are close friends.

Well he did put his friend on waivers...

IIRC, we put Redden on waivers before amnestying him this season. So maybe they're finally going for it?

This is a genius move by Garth and Wang.

As much as I hated DP back in the day, I wish the guy nothing but the best of luck in turning his career around.

EDIT - Using an amnesty on DP makes no sense for the Islanders. Not until they move to Brooklyn at least. If they do use their amnesty on DP, it won't be until 2015. DP helps them reach the cap floor, that's why he's still Islanders property.
