Dude, I'm not sure you actually watch any hockey.

I cannot even argue with such a delusional assessment. They are both good players, but come on.

I honestly think you do not even believe half of what you post and just play devil's advocate out of boredom, or to stir the pot.

Only Rangers fans will think Nash, Gaborik and Richards are comparable to Kovalchuk and Elias. (Individually)

Stat sheet says they're better plays, watching them play and be difference makers is another part of what I base my opinion on.

I know it is difficult to say an opinion is wrong, but in this case, I'm willing to do it.

Garbage nope. They're probably above average.

Every time a team that is not a bottom feeder comes up you say they're much better than the Rangers. I guess the Devils right now are, but they're overachieving big time. See Mr. "I scored 18 points in 82 games 2 years ago and have 16 now in 14 games" Clarkson.

watched erixon playing last night. his vision was amazing(albeit not the fastest paced game ever), but he looks HORRIBLE in every other facet. looks weak, size seems to be mostly fat, he's not a great skater, not physical, he's hesitant in every area of the ice, but man his decisions with the puck were sharp. going to be interesting to see how he ends up in a few years.

surprised dubinsky already has a letter in columbus(though not sure the circumstances with it), glad artie's foot isn't broken after that shot.

Blackhawks, Devils, Blues, Canucks, Penguins, Bruins and Kings are better than the Rangers imo. Rangers are in the next tier with the Flyers, Red Wings, Sharks and Predators.

Devils will come back to earth, they are a good team but nothing special. Flyers are showing their true nature with up and down performances. Kings got hot at the right time last year. Bruins are good but certainly not unstoppable. St. Louis is pretty darn legit, I still like then. Canucks do this every year...

No team is unbeatable and the love affairs on HF are pretty sad to see, people are so bipolar.

As for comparing our forwards with the Devils top end forwards, I'd say of the 5 in question Kovalchuk is the best, followed by Gaborik and Nash. Honestly, looking about our playoff series with them last year, every time Kovalchuk had the puck I was worried.

Yes, Kovalchuk is far superior to Gaborik and Nash. Gaborik has a better quick wrister, Nash is a bit stronger, but Kovalchuk has them both in every other conceivable area.

Combine Gaborik's speed and smarts, Nash's presence and stickhandling with Richard's slap shot, you get a player near what Kovalchuk is.

Kovalchuk also apparently has super human endurance and is incapable of feeling fatigue.

LA is 5-5. Rangers have beat the bruins twice.

LA is 5-5, but they have been quite unlucky this year. They consistently outplayed the opposing teams this year, with the exception of the first game of the season. Who cares if the Rangers beat the Bruins twice, they only won that 1 game because of a shootout gimmick. The Bruins tremendously outplayed us in that game.

The way I look at it, there's very few things Kovalchuk is better at than both Nash and Gaborik, but there's pretty much nothing he's worse at than both of them.

Kovalchuk
Nash
Gaborik
Elias (but barely lower, he is a wonderful playmaker)
Richards (based on his current level of play)

At least that's my opinion. Kovalchuk is filthy, if we had him over Gaborik we'd be a much better team.

Kovalchuk - Built like a linebacker, has one of the most lethal wrist shots in the game, insane speed to rush up the ice, much improved player defensively and uncanny passing ability. With his skillset and endurance, I always feel shocked that he hasn't won a couple of scoring titles. He is not a perfect player however, he is prone to overthinking plays (especially on the point on the PP) and gets rattled and loses confidence, which we personally saw when the Rangers eliminated the Thrashers in a 4 game sweep that year. If you put Crosby's brain in Kovalchuk's body, you'd have the best player of all time imo.

Kovalchuk > Nash > Gaborik with regards to overall play.

Kovalchuk > Gaborik > Nash with regards to goal scoring.

Kovalchuk is an awesome player. Imagine this:

Kovalchuk-Richards-Nash or Kovalchuk-Richards-Gaborik. Wow.

Kovy is one of those physical specimens. An athletic freak of nature that you simply just can't teach.

He also has an obscene skill set on top of it.

Call me crazy, but I think Elias can just as easily be #1 on this list. I don't see him any lower than 2nd though. Very underrated player as evident in this thread.

Imagine

Kovalchuk - Nash - Gaborik

Just get the puck back after every faceoff loss

Not enough puck. We see that now as it is. Of course with Nash there always seems to be not enough puck.

 Make excuses for everyone else I see.

Rangers beat the Bruins twice. Rangers > Bruins. I dont see how being ahead of them 3-1 almost the entire game only to allow 2 goals in the last minute is the bruins "tremendously outplaying" them. But whatever. The Bruins still lost.

LA is 5-5 and dead last in their own division. How are they an elite team?
