Wood craft? Chopping block?

Get outta here.

Not sure about the context, but I did catch the hit on the other Hughes by Colton that justifiably resulted in a major on Colorado. I wonder if the hit in the tweet was payback.

The hit was a minor. He cross checked Meier in the face 5 seconds later which was the major.

The tweet was in response to wood’s hit on sigenthaler, where Hamilton popped in him the back and relieved the only minor on the play.

JT Miller going to join Doug Weight as one of the top centers that flourished elsewhere that the Rangers have ever drafted. 295 games with Vancouver and nearly 320 points. 12 games 18 points this year. Just incredible.
I was thinking about that yesterday......and yet so many on this board made fun of him when he was traded but yet all he does is wear a letter for the Canucks and put up points and be a force on the ice . What more can a team want from a player ?

Dirty, dirty plays all of them

I guess they wanted him to do that here...he had okay regular season stats, and was abysmal in the playoffs.

Tampa didnt have issues letting him go either. Now he's in a place he can freewheel and play.....and thats good for him. But a winner? He aint.

I heard from a friend today that works with Turk Gallant's brother -in-law that no less than 5 NHL clubs have been in contact with him . I was curious on exactly what was his status at the time he was let go ? Did he have a 3rd year in his deal ....would they have bought him out ? I was told he would not go elsewhere to coach for less than what NY is paying him.....which made me wonder about his 3rd year status .

Any guesses on the clubs ? Myself....I would say Ottawa-Oilers-Sharks-Sabres.....and no idea on the 5th . They said there were 3 Canadian clubs.....read into that what you want .Maybe the Leafs ?

Haha.....and maybe Turk's brother-in -law spewing manure during coffee break. But....he likely will be back in the league soon enough .

He has a 3rd year and the Rangers have to pay him. If he goes to another team, generally, that would either negate or severely diminish that final year that the Rangers owe him. In saying that, it makes sense that he doesn't want to go somewhere for less than what the Rangers are paying him to basically stay home

Wouldn't it be something if Gallant replaces Quinn again, in San Jose?

I could be wrong, but I actually think he has 3 years left.

I thought I remember reading that it was a 5 year deal. @RangerBoy can give you an accurate answer.

Keefe is on a short leash so its possible.

Yeah Miller underachieved vs his talent a bit here and was still viewed as having maturity issues. That followed him to Tampa as well. When they ditched him, it's possible that was a bit of a wakeup call to him to start taking this more seriously. For what its worth, there were some rumbles about him in Vancouver as well being a bit of a handful to deal with even when having a great season pointswise

Ultimately, I think the Rangers let him go because they were going into rebuilding and didn't want to pay him a large contract especially after he very visibly quit on the team after they said it was going to be a rebuild. Maybe not the best reason, and maybe Gorton and Co should have been able to look beyond that to his talent and try to wring the best out of it, but I've still never seen a player so obviously just say "f*** it and f*** you" as Miller did once The Letter went out.

He put up 5 points in 9 games between the letter and being traded. By all accounts he was a dick, but if that's quitting then the whole team quit, as only Hayes (9 in 9) and Zucc (same as Miller) did anything.

Miller, for whatever reason, gets dumped on a lot on these boards, but he was and is a good player who was already producing here at a young age (I think at the only Rangers draft pick who'd scored more points than his 56 in a season since the new millennium was Stepan, and CK eventually in 21-22).
It says a lot about the team leaders, coaching staff and front office staff that no-one had the ability of capacity to help harness his skills and assist in his maturation, and instead gave him away for absolutely nothing

I mean I don't remember his points, I just have a strong memory of him barely skating around the ice and not giving a f*** after the letter. Maybe it was only a game or two, who knows, maybe my memory is just shot.

But yeah I do agree they would have been better served developing him better. For some reason I keep thinking there were also cap issues on the horizon even though they were selling players off but ultimately yeah they coulda gotten more out of him

I think that was just Miller in general, he was a frustrating player. There were games when you could see the effort and skill, and then the next night he looked like he didn't want to be a hockey player

The hit on Hughes was a 2-minute minor. The high stick to Meier's face was the major.

EDIT: I'm clearly late to the party. Apologies.

Who cares if you have a guy that is gonna score 60-65 goals when you're team gives up seemingly 5-6 goals a night.

Will Lockwood the best player they got for Kravtsov on the Panthers roster and couldn't even get a game with the Rangers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
