The Devils' defense is atrocious.

It is. They look like every Lindy Ruff coached team since 2009. Maybe Brunette was the brains behind their operation.

Getting in a track meet with a team that would be tough enough to beat in that style of game had they been 100% healthy is certainly a choice.

OTOH, I want to show this game to anyone who whines when the Rangers overpass in a situation. The Avs have been more guilty of it tonight than the Rangers have in the last 3 seasons combined. They have 5 goals, they should have 15.

He can afford to play more of a risk/reward style for a couple of reasons. One he's a gifted skater who can cover up a lot of his bad gambles with his speed. Also he plays on a much more talented team that plays an up-tempo style & that makes it seem like they always have possession.

Makar is more talented & dynamic than Fox, whether Ranger fans want to admit it or not. Any neutral observer can see that Makar jumps off the screen when you watch the Avs. Fox is a great player who is reliant on his hockey IQ & his positioning. It's not a knock on Fox, but there is no chance you take him over Makar if you're starting a team.
I believe you and I'm not trying to get into a dick measuring contest with Avs fans. Like I said, I rarely watch them and tonight I noticed him in a bad way - bone headed plays in the D zone and passing straight to a Devil penalty killer right at the beginning of the Avs 5 on 3. Small sample size obviously but he really didn't look all that great to me.

Colton mustve grew up a Ranger fan with the way he was injuring Devils yesterday. The Hughes brothers biggest rival long term might be surviving being checked into the boards

They were Florida 2.0 last season with Brunette.... but we know how that end in the Playoffs.

Jack Hughes is an all-world talent. He's not enough to carry a team in the Playoffs. Their defense and goaltending is no where near good enough. Also, their 9M defender disappears once the Playoffs start.

I do think it's a lot closer than pundits make it. Fox has been on a terrible 5v5 team the past couple seasons. What would Fox look like on Colorado?

Honestly I'm sure he would be great, but I do wonder if he could keep up with the speed & the pace they like to play at. Fox thrives slowing the game down which is the antithesis of how MacKinnon & Rantanen, et al. play.

It was in reply to the Avs classless tweet below it. Social media itself is the bigger problem.
You mean the clean shoulder on shoulder check on the debbie that had the puck? That’s just hockey. If that is classless, throw the whole sport out.

Compared to the debbie tweet that celebrated a hit from behind next to boards? Yeesh.

No doubt social media is a disaster. But there are degrees.

I don't even think the response was classless as much as it was dumb.

Greetings from NJ! We just gave you a PP!

wasn't he drinking beers post-game or am I remembering wrong?

getting out of that contract was massive... landed us Cuylle ultimately

He'd get a bucket after games,

I'm 99% sure he was exaggerating his lack of off season training for laughs but it definitely wasn't a priority for him. He had Kravtsovian off season work ethic with a Bowler's body and Bergeron's brain.

Hockey IQ takes you really far in this game. He will make a phenomenal coach if he ever wants to do it.

Edmonton is a complete dumpster fire. Expect Woodcroft to be on the chopping block any day now. The team is completely undisciplined & all their top players are melting down individually, including McJesus.
Wood craft? Chopping block?

Get outta here.

can you imagine if Trouba did that? There would be a 25 page thread right now on the main boards.
Not sure about the context, but I did catch the hit on the other Hughes by Colton that justifiably resulted in a major on Colorado. I wonder if the hit in the tweet was payback.
