I was going to post this same exact thing. It's all over twitter. He kicks him.... How was that not mentioned? I didn't want to watch the video, but in my mind it would be a freak thing where the player was on the ice or tumbling.

That's borderline manslaughter. I really don't know how that would play out in the legal system

I know its a really tough topic for all involved, including the Belgrade guy - but a thorough investigation needs to take place, and if they find that charges need to be filed (and ultimately time served) because it was deemed a reckless or intentional play, then so be it.

Its important that it be made an example of for current and upcoming players. It could potentially save someones life or a kids well-being in the future. You cannot have that type of shit going on, we all know there are repeat offenders in the game and at ALL levels.

And yes things happen that are split second decisions but if you have trouble possessing a modicum of self control out there and you become a consistent danger to others then you dont deserve to play this great game. Plain and simple.

Also, if you look at Belgrade after the play - this is my opinion - his reaction says it all. Its not confusion or a stunned response as if it was an accident, it was an "OMG, wtf did i just do!?"

I finally saw the video, a less graphic clip that ends before any blood or aftermath, and it was shocking to see , after reading people’s description of it that it was a “freak accident” on a “nothing play”, when in reality the guy comes flying in with a Liu Kang jumping sidekick straight to the throat.

Even if you don’t want to say it’s intentional, it was at the very least extremely reckless.
Is there another angle? Or was it the same birds eye that everyones seen?

Nicklas Backstrom is out indefinitely after attempting a comeback having the same surgery Kane did. I hated that he played for the Caps but respect the hell out of him. He should make the HOF one day.

Stay away from Kane.
Yeah, he was an excellent player for the Caps for a long time. After Ovi, he's the next guy I think of when I hear Washington Capitals. Injury issues the last 2-3 years really diminished his impact, weird to see him playing 3rd line this year in the Caps games I've watched.

He never played a pro game for another team, but we didn't develop him? That one doesn't add up for me.
he didn't spend any time in Hartford and we weren't the ones checking in on him during his time at Harvard. i think he was a two way stud the second he stepped onto nhl ice

Not checking a NMC filing. Lose a first round pick

Not acting on reports of sexual abuse. Here's the #1OA pick...
More like lying to another team about the conditions of a contract in order to make a trade more attractive.

In the grand scheme of things I'd say my point still stands
Sure, what the league did with the Blackhawks is absolutely a disgrace. But if Dorion actually did intentionally mislead a team in order to facilitate a trade, that deserves a harsh punishment. It f***ed up the Vegas TDL in 2022 and probably cost them a playoff berth.

#Sens owner Michael Andlauer says #NHL did not advise him of either investigation - botched Dadonov "no-trade" clause or Pinto sports betting incident - before he closed on purchase. “Maybe they didn’t want to disrupt [it] to make sure the seller got the best price possible."

total BS..during due diligence faze of purchase buyer should have know Sens were being disciplined

Especially since the NHL revised the Kovalchuk penalty once Vanderbeek sold to Josh Harris.

The NHL should be celebrating that Eugene Melnyk is no longer in the league, not covering up for that regime to get the best price.

So does the NHL lose a first round pick too?

Odd. TNT game Buffalo/Philadelphia game blacked out on Spectrum.
Edit:
I believe they made a mistake. I live in NYC and watch TNT via Spectrum. It’s showing now but that may be because they’re between periods.
Fingers crossed.
