Which Rogers? Arena or Place.

On a side note, Canadian teams need to be a little more creative with Sponsorship names. It's either ScotiaBank and Rogers. I can't keep them straight anymore.

Scotiabank Arena = old ACC: TOR
Scotiabank Saddledome = Pringles Dome: CGY

Rogers Arena = GM Place: VAN
Rogers Place = New Rexall Arena: EDM
Rogers Centre = Skydome: Baseball TBJ
I look for tires at Canadian Tire Center

Somebody from the Ducks had to go.

This is why I get upset when Rangers fans complain about the Rangers. Ducks are so bad, that Vatrano is their leading scorer. I like Frankie but he should not be leading a team in scoring.

Zegras and Terry have been shit. And Carlsson looked great till that a-hole sat on his knee.

i believe the number of snipes for him was 0. pretty sure every single goal he scored as a ranger involved him flying into the net with the puck.
How did the Hurricanes think he was a first round pick like the Rangers thought Jessiman was a 1st round pick due to their size alone 🙄

Unfortunately he didn't do that enough here.
He was tied for 3rd on the team in goals/60 with some of the shittiest linemates known to man. It was hilarious last year to see people continuing to say the guy can’t score as he scored at one of the highest rates on the team being deployed with Harpur Blais and Goodrow

i see it a lot more with him than jessiman. gauthier's skating ability at that size and a solid amount of skill allowed him to dominate at the junior level. he also was one of the more dominant players in canada for his age group...so pedigree wise it would have been hard to make a case in his draft year he didn't belong in the first round. almost every pick is a roll of the dice, but when it comes to kids who are so physically dominant at those levels, it can be really hard to get a good read on their hockey iq. like as far as physical tools there really aren't that many guys in the league who have more than gauthier. he's just got literally no ability to see the ice...it's like he has blinders on...and he just can't read the game at the nhl pace. he still could have, and may ultimately become, a big part of a bottom 6 if he's willing to accept reality and play a game that maximizes the tools he does have. when he was here he simply refused to accept he's not a top 6 player and wouldn't change his game to embrace a bottom 6 role where he could have been really good. if he would have just upped his intensity/physicality and used his speed/size to play a simple straight line, meat and potatoes game getting pucks deep and hounding them/funneling everything to the net he could have been here a long time. no matter how many times countless people tried to tell him that though, he remained convinced he was a star top 6 goal scorer. he's not totally wrong there...in many leagues he would be....just not the nhl.

as far as jessiman...who knows. kinda before my time but wasn't he drafted outta the ne preps? feel like he's different than a gauthier in that gauthier had an impressive resume at the highest levels of junior hockey. kids like jessiman are complete projection because there's a limited track record. also thought i heard he had a pretty bad leg? injury not long after he was drafted...not sure how bad but even if there's no long term effects any time lost at those ages can really set you back. i don't know how out of left field his pick was in terms of draft spot vs consensus expectations, but i get the idea of why you'd rather take a shot on someone who's upside offers more value than the safer picks available...you just look like a moron when you're wrong. sometimes you get a kreider or pacioretty...sometimes you get a joe colborne or jay obrien.

but yea...we have a lot of picks that look really stupid in hindsight. last few years have been better tho. no grand slam picks, but have built up an impressive amount of depth/assets.

Jessiman was drafted for size alone. He was called Huge Specimen. It was dumb at the time and remains dumb now. Context matters. That was one of the best drafts of all time. Major gaffe.

Gauthier had size and speed. Like ridiculous speed. Yes he is lacking in other important areas but he was always going to be a serviceable bottom six player at worst because of his physical abilities.

I really wish we kept him around. That speed and net drive would be super useful on this team.

hindsight shows it to be a stupid pick, but it's not like he didn't have any skill. i mean he did have 47 pts in 34 games playing d1 hockey in his draft year at 6'6 220. i never saw him play, so i don't know what it looked like, but producing like that at that level in your draft year is going to get some attention. obviously looking back at the rest of the first round that year, it's a comically bad pick. we tried to galaxy brain it when the board was loaded with absolute no brainers. that said, 47 pts playing d1 in your draft year is going to get you taken by someone in the first round every single time, add in being 6'6 and yea...it was inevitable

They wanted to draft the next Lindros. What they got was whatever the hell Jessiman was.

exactly...and don't get me wrong i'm not defending the pick. i'm just saying it's not like he didn't have a resume that made him a lock to go in the 1st round to someone. it just sucks it was us.
