Jessiman was drafted for size alone. He was called Huge Specimen. It was dumb at the time and remains dumb now. Context matters. That was one of the best drafts of all time. Major gaffe.

Gauthier had size and speed. Like ridiculous speed. Yes he is lacking in other important areas but he was always going to be a serviceable bottom six player at worst because of his physical abilities.

I really wish we kept him around. That speed and net drive would be super useful on this team.
We picked up a few PP opps because of his speed ....it's not like Wheeler is going to get any better . Stupid asset management .

He was tied for 3rd on the team in goals/60 with some of the shittiest linemates known to man. It was hilarious last year to see people continuing to say the guy can’t score as he scored at one of the highest rates on the team being deployed with Harpur Blais and Goodrow
Makes mental note...

Wasbuns hates Goodrow
Hates Bonino
Likes Gauthier

Also seeing w

in all seriousness I don’t know what’s not to like about the guy as a 4th liner
His defense awareness (or lack thereof).

If he could kill penalties he would increase his versatility tremendously. But having to sit a penalty killing 4th liner so that Gauthier can get a slot is a tough sell.

Not hard to sell me on it. I’d much rather have a quality 8-10 min 5v5 than a couple PK minutes and an unplayable 4 line

hindsight shows it to be a stupid pick, but it's not like he didn't have any skill. i mean he did have 47 pts in 34 games playing d1 hockey in his draft year at 6'6 220. i never saw him play, so i don't know what it looked like, but producing like that at that level in your draft year is going to get some attention. obviously looking back at the rest of the first round that year, it's a comically bad pick. we tried to galaxy brain it when the board was loaded with absolute no brainers. that said, 47 pts playing d1 in your draft year is going to get you taken by someone in the first round every single time, add in being 6'6 and yea...it was inevitable
As I mentioned earlier Hugh had a great freshmen year and a good Soph year. Sadly he injured his ankle and for some reason he was never the same player after that injury.

Know then, that it is the year 10191. The known universe is ruled by the Padisha Emperor Shaddam IV, my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the Universe is the spice melange. Fans on HFNYR are still debating the Hugh Jessiman draft pick.
Why man now I have to re-read the whole series again

I am a huge Brandon Smith fan, and he just pulled a Jacob Trouba.
Defending himself even though he really didn't have to just because he hit their star player, in Bedard.
OH freaking well!
WATCHING THIS DEVIL'S BLACKHAWKS GAME, it has been the closest thing that I've seen to Old Time hockey. Jack Hughes later hit, another brawl. Loving it
