Colin Miller is close so I'm going to guess he will sub in at some point.
They have issues higher in that pecking order though and yeah their goalies are bad.

I'd let them have Domingue for one of Nemec/Mercer/Hischier/Hughes/Hughes... I'd even take Holtz if they add 2 firsts.

Joe B and Locker, the Caps' guys, always call the players by their nicknames or first names. Like they were best pals. Penguins guys, too--endless "Sid" and "Geno" throughout.
Sam and Joe are great, and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise.I'm really fortunate between them and KGR with the Mets to have great booths.
I like the Caps guys generally but yeah that is so cringe.

of course hughes will be back for our game, like that game hasn't been circled on their calendar since the schedule came out. Entire franchise hinges on our existence.
With that being said, would be really put their season in a bad place with a loss to us Saturday.

Trouba playing connect four to brush up on his diagonal connects. Hughes does that and the pull up stuff a ton in the O zone. Need to do a F D coverage switch and have the defenseman take the trailer and let the late forward coming back nail Hughes everytime he's finding time and space in the high slot area.

That's the thing with the Devils now - last year they surprised a lot of teams but since Ruff is a piss poor coach, nothing's changed and other teams with Xs and Os coaches are going to prepare for these plays.
The devils defense looks like our from last year without the higher end talent in Fox and Miller or the physical play of Trouba and Lindgren.

Trouba had a practice run on Marchenko the other day. If he ever gets Hughes clean he may vaporize him like Dr. Manhattan. Meier is big dude and Trouba absolutely steamrolled him. I wonder if Timo has the sack to challenge Jacob.

I feel like Hughes is trying to rush back for this game against the Rangers.
He was week to week and Saturday will be just about two weeks since the injury.
If hes ready, hes ready - but I'd be careful if I was the Devils and not rush him back in what should be a spirited game featuring the best open ice hitter in the world.

Id love for them to rush him back in a game that is pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Unlike us, the Devils clearly cant survive without their best player. Although Li'l Jackie isnt going to help them play better defense or help Akira Sieve make a save.

The Devils will be there in the end. Yes, they have some warts like most teams do, but when they are clicking they have a really elite flow offensively. A lot of that goes through Jack, no doubt. He's a catalyst similar to McDavid.
When it comes to these matchups the Devils franchise and fanbase have this inferiority complex that drives it. They NEED to beat the Rangers anytime they face them. They are in a bit of a rut right now because of the injuries so that further makes the case how important not only Hughes, but Hischier is as well, but rushing Hughes back could back fire big time.
Yeah, he wont make them play D or help the goalies make more saves but they sure shut down the Rangers when it counted last year.
The Rangers just need to play their game. Same game against every team. Im interested to see if anythings really changed in that regard from past coaches to Lavalette and his staff. After 5 days off is it going to take them a period and half to match the intensity of the Devils in their own barn? Let's hope they wont be down by 2 or 3 by the time their legs come around like we've seen in these situations in the past.
