So, lol. Larsson still hasn't played a game for NJ yet this year. Healthy scratch in all of their games.

I thought this guy was supposed to be better than Staal this year?

"Lidstrom potential"

I love how Devils fans try to justify it by saying "he deserves to be playing top 4 minutes but they are playing the other guys to showcase them for a trade." Please. You don't showcase 10+ year vets. Other teams know exactly what they're getting if they actually wanted to trade for Tallinder/Volchenkov. If the coaches thought Larsson gave the team a better chance to win, you bet your ass he would be in the lineup.

Who knows though Larsson is only 20 and Lidstrom was a 21 yr old rookie. Still plenty of time to develop. Hopefully for us and the rest of the Atlantic he doesn't come close to being the next Lidstrom. Personally, I see him turning into more of a Sami Salo. Good at everything but not great at anything.

fyi Lidstrom scored 60 points as a rookie and never once was a healthy scratch in his NHL career.

Lol at "best defensive prospect to come out of Sweden since Lidstrom." I hear that Erik Karlsson kid was pretty good last year.

Teams already know what they're getting with Tallinder, Volchenkov, or whatever other old defenseman the Devils trade for some forward help.

Zack Boychuk also on waivers. At the least he's a warm body....

i hope Rangers put a claim for Boychuk... he would add much needed speed and is also a center.. with the injury to Callahan, i wont be shocked if Boychuk becomes a Rangers, if he makes it to their pick.

He'll never reach us. Isles/CBJ will pick him up. Both are very desperate hockey clubs, moreso than us.

Boychuk sucks, no need for him, where does he fit in the lineup? He isn't a better defensive center than Boyle or Halpern, also Richards and Stepan skate circles around the guy. No need to waste a contract.

Lines from practice today:
Gaborik - Richards - Nash
Hagelin - Stepan - Pyatt
Rupp - Boyle - Ferriero
Asham - Halpern - Bickel

Yes, our problem right now is how crowded our lineup is. He could play the wing on the third line adequately while we deal with injuries. It's a free pickup and if at any point we're healthy or decide he has not done what we wanted of him, we just waive him again. Why not pick him up while we're in need of bodies?

He might be able to play on the wing. The amount of depth we have in the AHL is frightening. Would you seriously prefer to see Newbury?

Yep. Larsson is simply not good enough to beat those guys out. He'd be our #6 d-man (no WAY would he be beating out Stralman). Granted, all of the Devils d-men would be our 5/6 d-men, so it's not like he is being beaten out by great players.

It really amazes me how the guys on Root are still employed. With about a minute left in last night's game (Penguins vs Isles), Steigerwald says:

"It's been tough for the Penguins, losing their home opener to a team like Toronto and now losing at home to the New York Islanders."

Hey, they commended Malkin for embellishing a call a week ago. Said that "Of course Malkin should try and get the call there."

And of course, those clowns play like they're the 86 Edmonton Oilers against us. I mean, did you see Fluery and his two horrible goals last night? Never happens against us.
