He was never underrated. People just like to pretend they discovered the guy every time there's a good player in a small market.

People used to talk about Oliver Ekman-Larsson like he's Bobby Orr until he went to Vancouver and we found out he's f***ing mid. You hear about how good Seth Jones is since he swapped Columbus for Chicago?
being in Chicago, I never hear about Jones lmao. nobody wants to talk about the hawks.

but yeah, agreed on the actual point.

I'm just like pretty gobsmacked bc Barkov is undeniably a fantastic player, but he is awful in the playoffs every time he's there

Does keeping a team in the desert that draws 2-3k fans a night make financial sense?
Within the business model of the NHL, yes, because the league survives on like eight teams.

The league has had multiple opportunities to give a 1OA pick to "Bettman's baby" and multiple playoff runs to try and force them into a deep run and it never happened.

Not that they'd ever admit it, but I wonder if Boston sports fans, deep down, are sick of hearing that Dropkick Murphys song over and over and over and over again.

Nah, that's their "New York, New York" by Sinatra. Kinda funny, kinda sad.

I don't think the league has a hard bias, but under certain circumstances within the flow of a game they will manage the game in a way to keep it "competitive" because Bettman loves to tout the leagues parity. It's his lawyerly way of keeping fans spending money on poor markets.

Then there are the moments when a player or coach won't shut up and get in the refs head one way or another.
I 100% believe the league has it out for the Rangers. I don’t know if it’s because of the owner or the deals MSG has for tax breaks which prevent them from being the home team outside of MSG? All I know is that for all of their feeble attempts at Parity, they are failing in plenty of cities to the detriment of the on ice product.

To counter this, construct a team good 5v5
