Never mind. It's over. lolNot over yet in Colorado. Double deflection late.
Wish the Rangers had a Tkachuk Bennett type here. I miss Duclair.
I've gotta ask; do you actually miss Duclair and what he showed in his 18 games here, or do you miss the 'what might have been' if we suddenly learned how to develop forwards almost a decade ago?
No judgement, I just literally can't remember anything about his time here other than that we drafted him as one of 3 3rd rounders (and that Adam Tambellini was the first of those 3...)
I always was a fan of Duclair. I always thought he’d be a better player than Buchnevich . Sadly both have better careers after they played for the Rangers.
What do you mean both? Buch was a force his last couple of years with us.
So the Panthers actually traded a guy who didn't show up in the playoffs and was out clubbing in Tampa while the team was on the verge of elimination for a guy who is active every shift, stirs shit up, and can also score 100 points. What a trade for them. Even if they lose to Boston, there's no shame in that. My guess is Barkov isn't going to be on that team for much longer. What a disappointing player. Gone from underrated to way overrated just like that.
He took another step forward in St. Louis.
He was just playing with an actual playoff choker in Gaudreau. They traded a guy who didn’t show up in the playoffs for another guy considered a playoff choker…until this year when suddenly he’s scoring so now he’s a great playoff player. Just search Tkachuk Playoffs here there’s a ton of posts about it
Buch would have taken that step here too, if we had kept him.
Duclair made his path on many other teams. He was dealt very early, as opposed to Buch.
He was just playing with an actual playoff choker in Gaudreau.
At least he plays a playoff type game so he would be more likely to start scoring in the playoffs.
He could at least score sometimes on the PP. That would be nice. That's Panarin's issue too. This year he's playing with Trocheck (16 points in 33 playoff games before this year) and last year with Strome (8 points in 15 games before becoming a Ranger) so it's hard to expect much when he plays with guys who never produce in the playoffs.
Yeah, but the OP said that they have had better careers elsewhere and that is certainly true for Buch regardless of how he was tracking here. Best season here was 48 points and had 70+ and 60+ in subsequent seasons for the Blues.
You're conveniently leaving out that it was 48 pts in 54 games.
48pts in 54g
77pts in 73g
67pts in 63g
That's not a "better career elsewhere". Buch was close to peak form with us, had a great career with us and would have had similar seasons with us.
Pittsburgh won two Cups with a guy that can't hold down a backup job.I think the notion that you can win in the playoffs spite your goalie or hope he gets hot out of nowhere should be dismissed. We heard it when Hank got paid and then again when Igor got his contract.
It was never Hank and it was always the lousy contracts of guys in front of em. Take note when Georgiev lays an egg, the revolving goalie door in Pitt and so on.
They can't all be Adam Fox.I hope the criticism of Makar gets loud for being suspended from playing in a pivotal series game. I'm sure the Avs missed him last night.
That doesn't mean he was bad WHEN they won the cup. Guys end up like Jim Carey, Cam Ward, etc where they go from top 10 goalie to barely scraping a backup job. The idea is, don't let the notion of "any goalie in net can win a Championship" when you spend years building a contender only to fall flat because you neglected 1 position which can single handedly win or lose you games.Pittsburgh won two Cups with a guy that can't hold down a backup job.
