Insane how unprepared this team is to start series. Ruff sucks. This is why I always say you can't judge a coach just based on the fact that his team wins games.
Jersey has nothing for Carolina. Ruff isn't the greatest coach but this roster has limitations. Jersey has talent but they are not the better team. I could see another Florida vs Tampa redux....

The only chance Jersey has is if they get hot on the PP and/or their stars take over. * see New York Rangers gameplan.

The only thing Jersey changed against the Rangers is their PK gameplan. You shut down our PP and you win. You shut down our PP and we go controller disconnect.

Seeing how Carolina is playing these first two games, even with us having Shesty in goal, they would have murdered the Rangers even if we won in game 7 against the Devils.

Assuming the Rangers wouldn't have upped their play than whatever they showed in most of round 1.

Carolina's not all that much to write home about either with their injuries. Hard to see either of these teams beating the other side of the bracket as of now.

It's not about individuals for Carolina. They play the ultimate team game and buy in 100%

They are beatable though. You need great goaltending and/or a PP for 4 out of 7.

Yeah, at this point, I feel like the cup is going West. Unless Florida continues their Cinderella story.

It's basically how we beat them last season. Don't recall the PP, but Shesty was a beast in that series.

I'm fairly confident our PP led the offense.

I just try to picture this team with Shesty... with the PP... and finally, with a 5v5 attack. That's the final piece to the equation. ( which is why I could understand the Sutter argument )

I'm 50-50 on Sutter, but not gonna lie, he would bring that element of 5v5 attack here. Something that's sorely been missing over the past couple seasons.

It would probably mean a slight roster shakeup as well at a minimum.

Our PP has to change as well. Shifting more and not have the most f***ing obvious shooters keep shooting might help.

Last oilers game McDrai was where Zibs usually is, just on the opposite side, and he potted a one-timer that wasn't even a full wind up. It makes me wonder why Zibs has to clap it as hard and as inaccurate as possible on top of everyone knowing that shot's coming.

The Leafs fans here at HF are actually fairly reasonable. But I still enjoy their suffering. The media circus will be hilarious if they collapse, and that's what I want. Entertainment.

I don't want a single cup to a Canadian team ever, especially not Toronto, Montreal or Edmonton. Because you would never hear the end of it.

I feels the same. Can't blame Leafs fans for the BS the Toronto and national media sends their way every day, sometimes every hour. I find it hard not to root for them, but at the same time I never liked the way their rosters were constructed since Dubas took over.

This Canes beatdown is sealing Gallant's fate IMO. Maybe not this week or in the offseason but he will be on an incredibly short leash to start next season. Trouba's comments were not an endorsement IMO, and he's the leader. You can almost tell he paused to remember what NYR's PR team teaches them to say in those situations.

Although I think the players f***ed up royally, almost to a man, anyone with a brain can make the strong argument that the group let a Stanley Cup slip away in R1 (if Canes seal this series the same way they started it). That has to come down on the coach, because firing him is a wake-up call to the players, who already feel like shit for letting evrybody down.

New coach. New vision. More motivation. If they pull this crap again in R1, then you start naming names from the lineup and change things up.

Haven't been watching this series but I bet Carolina capitalized on rebounds unlike us.

Only one of the last six Jack Adams winners is still with the same team.
Coaches are rentals. Things change. Just look at Pep over in City. Has coached many teams to championships, but eventually he’ll be out of the job at Man City too.

Do we really need to wait for another R1 collapse before naming names?

The leadership core on this team has been around for awhile now and the identity is set. By virtue of his salary Panarin is part of that leadership core. Kreider and Mika due to their tenure. Trouba is the attempt to shift the locker room to a different mind set. Will it work? Maybe if they bring in more north/south players.

I am not advocating keeping Gallant, but I have serious doubt any coach can bring this room to heel until after something significant changes in that locker room. The Rangers need a Playoff coach, what and who that is, I have no idea.
