The defense corps was also very reliant on Lundqvist stopping everything.

As flawed as we are now, you could make a convincing argument that we're less flawed than those teams were.

In a lot of situations.

I think it helped that the 2012-2014 teams had decided on an identity. Our team has the comeback label- but how we do that is TBD

With Avs playing MacKinnon, Makar and Rantanen for half the game, you have to get physical with them.

Ok so question.

What is a bigger fail? Tampa getting swept in 2019 or the Bruins blowing a 3-1 series lead?

My take: Consider the way that game 5 ended, the insanity that was the 3rd period in game 6 and tonight's game and I think the Bruins take the cake.

65 wins and 135 points during the regular season only to lose in the 1st round while up 3-1 in the series? My vote goes to the Bruins for sure.

Hearing the names of all these ex-Caps and it hits home that Washington really broke up the band

Probably the Bruins by a bit but the Lightning after squandering a 3-0 lead early in game 1 got outscored 19-5 the rest of the way en route to the sweep.

The B's losing Game 5 they way did was probably the high point. Marchand on a breakaway with a chance to end the series right before the end of the 3rd period. Bob with a huge save & Ekblad almost throws the puck into the net, like he put his life savings on Boston to win the series. Then Ullmark pulls a MAF & gives the puck away for the winner. I don't recall that Tampa series that well, but I don't think there was a memorable sequence like the one I just detailed.
