I'll give you Nash, but Richards was already a shell of himself but the time 2013 rolled around. I remember him being terribad in the 2013 playoffs. Just checked to confirm. One goal, 0 assists in 10 games.

Those 2013 and 2014 teams were the deepest and best constructed rosters I've seen since the early 90's but don't have half the talent today's roster does.

I’m 90% sure that ONE goal was a massive one against pitt.

It was truly a team built from the goal outwards.

Balance, depth, and a complete lack of top end talent. I appreciated Gaborik and Nash but they fact that from Jagr in 2007 to Panarin/Zibanejad that they were our best forwards is a solid case for why we never got over the hump.

The defense corps was also very reliant on Lundqvist stopping everything.

As flawed as we are now, you could make a convincing argument that we're less flawed than those teams were.
