Thats essentially 2 NHL roster players (With DeAngelo being a very good one) 2 A level prospects, Lias and 3 1sts.

That is an absurd amount of pieces.

Thats essentially 2 NHL roster players (With DeAngelo being a very good one) 2 A level prospects, Lias and 3 1sts.

That is an absurd amount of pieces.

I think they’d probably still be able to get close to the same amount with better quality throughout, they’d be giving up the guy who’s probably going to be the best player in the team for the next decade and who’s shown he can basically be a team by himself

Any McDavid trade would start with ZBad ( cost controlled 1st line center) and then add from the pu-pu platter of picks and prospects people are talking about. I would think something Like Mika, Tony D., Georgiev, Kappo and a first would keep the Oilers from just hanging up on you.

I mean, what’s even a comparable for this kind of thing? The only 2 maybe 3 players comparable to him in the salary cap era are still on the teams that drafted them

But of course, none of this matters because it’s been reported that he’s given Holland 2 years to show progress before he would even ask to be traded

I'm not sure how it would work under the cap but I would still pay it in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately for McDavid, while it's not his fault for the mess Edmonton is in, it was his choice for committing to them long term

I could see him being traded at some point, but a team would have to give up a bunch to get him. And at that point, if you're trading multiple NHL pieces and futures away for McDavid, is that team really going to be much better than Edmonton?

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but he should have signed a shorter term deal so at least he wouldn't be locked in so long with them
