Malte Strömwall signed with Sochi. Interesting signing. Rykov still unsigned so there's still nothing that prevents him from joining the Rangers

Ugh I’m starting to want the assets from Kreider + Panarin. It’s almost silly to not want that. I just don’t see Panarin getting Rangeritis the more I think about it...

Ugh, we’ll see in a few weeks ..

But why are the only two options signing Zuccarello back or Kreider?

I don't want a 31 year old Zucc, but I think re-signing a 28 year old Kreider is more realistic. I don't think we are going to land Panarin. It's true that in a rebuild we can't have Panarin and Kreider's next contract.

I could get behind trading Kreider and signing Panarin at a reasonable salary. I would not be behind trading Kreider and signing Panarin at $11m per season. I would also not be okay with re-signing Kreider and not signing Panarin.

Mack is crazy...haha

Yeah I figured he got a shot when he went off and then came back. But it was the playoffs game 7 so not shocking. You have to wonder how the game might have ended had he not gotten hurt but injuries are part of the game so you move on.

Turning into Zibenejad is great, but I think we would have won the Cup if we had both Nash AND Gaborik rather than Gaborik being on the winning team...

Anything's possible but I don't see it. Without Brassard we are much weaker down the center and may not even have made it to the final.

How about resigning Brassard if a very reasonable contract.
He surely did play much better the last few games of the playoffs. Obviously no more than a year or two. I'm sure some Ranger fans would prefer not bringing him back.

Never was a big Brassard fan. Seems like a nice guy but even though he had success here, just was never wooed by him.

Zibanejad just has something about him, other than playing very well on this team. He just seems to bring energy around him on and off the ice. Just seems like a more likeable guy, I dunno.

I'm not convinced that is true.

In 2 years when Shattenkirk, Staal, Smith, and Lundqvist all come off the books, that's around 25 million dollars all in one go. And that's before players like Kakko and Kravtsov are even off their ELC's.

Yeah it does feel a little anticlimactic.

Felt like we were on the brink of a pick in the teens and another first rounder. And then the wheels all fell off.
We’re ok. Just say to yourself we have the second overall pick! And everything gets better real fast!
We may move Kreider that could lead to a high pick.
Hank May surprise us and move to a contender.

Why trade Kreider? Who is going to score goals? LOL

It's like when they had Nash AND Gaborik.. but then you get rid of Gaborik and Nash could not be relied upon as the #1 threat.
He’s a good player but doesn’t always play big. Disappears a lot.
Always feel like he could do more.
Has had some tough injuries but does stay in shape.
Is a solid playoff performer.
Candidate for captain.
Is that worth 49 mil?
I’m not sure. Tough decision.

My new playoffs stance is Anyone But the Bruins

Who's on board
Blues, Canes, Sharks, Bruins in that order. Although Blues beat the Stars they did a huge huge favor in beating Winnipeg for us otherwise the Winnpeg could have been 28-31

I hear what you're saying but I can't forget what he brought us here. Probably one of the greatest playoff performances I've seen as a Ranger fan getting 5 points and a Hattrick (I mean maybe not up there with Messier game 6 but what is?!). So many exciting playoff moments.
and finally bringing back a terrific first line center in Zibby who hopefully is just hitting his stride.

Would Brassard even be discussed here if he didn't play for the Rangers before?

Pass.
Probably not. could be worse signings than signing him for a year or two. Smith, Shatty, Hank, Staal all off the books in two years so as long as nothing over a year or two I wouldn't hate it. Wouldn't expect much more than 30 points or so. Not sure he would wanna come back here anyway considering the timing

So he can still a spot from a young player? No thanks.
Totally understand what you're saying but Gorton could possibly be making moves like Names or Vesey which would open up some spots for younger players.
