Amazing reading on HF how people were so quickly willing to trade Heiskanen plus for EK. Omg give Jim Nil some serious credit. Sometimes the good trades are the ones u don’t make
I member.Remember when the Islanders had a cake walk to the ECF? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Great night, NHL laughingstock Islanders go down 0-3 and Stars even up series, half way to another first round pick
yep, canes / jackets / avalanche all would draft higher than winnipeg so we need them to advance! double bonus Islanders get eliminated triple bonus we get 1st rounder from Dallas if they advance. Then zuccarello just has to re-sign with Dallas and we get another first in 2020
The general vibe I'm getting from Dallas fans is that they love Zucc (no duh from us) and are willing to resign him. A lot of their summer roster planning scenarios include resigning him. He's really contributing to their playoff run (3-6-9 in 10) and with the emergence of Hintz, they are finally more than just a one line team. Heiskanen and Lindell are also pulling their weight in making them competitive. Of course, I'll want them to tank next season![]()
what did he do and how do we return the favor? it sounds vaguely familiar. Are we actually ever returning the favor to HalleJockel? (Or whatever his name was)
You remember. That Canes fan which stopped by couple of years ago.

Go Avs!Go Canes Go Stars Go Jackets !!!!!!!!!!
I suspect if Dallas makes it to the WCF and owes the Rangers a first, they actually DONT sign Zucc and give up another first rounder
More likely to sign if they lose to St. Louis
Except Columbus is going through the exact same thing with Boston and they look like the better team. Two things:
1. Zucc is really having an amazing playoffs and I like the Stars' team in general. Despite the higher pick we would garner if they move forward, I'd really like to see them and especially Zucc, win the cup.
2. I wonder what would have happened had the Islanders' series gone longer, or if they had faced more of a fight. The Canes just seem better prepared for the adversity of the playoffs and its very possible that derives from them taking out the defending champs in the 1st round. It has to be really hard to come back after a long break and go up against a team that has already become playoff weathered.
Stopo being a Ranger fan.
The Stars made the Western Conference finals in 2007-08. The Stars had won one playoff series since 07-08 prior this season. The Stars had missed the playoffs in 8 of those 10 seasons.
The Stars were a one line team prior to acquiring Mats Zuccarello from the Rangers. He is tied in points with Seguin, Benn and Radulov for playoff points with 9 in 10 games. The acquisition of Zuccarello allowed Montgomery to make changes by flipping his centers last night. He put Seguin on a line with Zuccarello and Dickinson. Hintz with Benn and Radulov.
The Stars are a now team and they have so much money invested in Seguin, Benn, Radulov and Bishop. $30.5M in cap space. All of those players except for Seguin will be 30 before the start of next season. They have to win. Zuccarello has become a big part of their team. They aren't re-signing the player because they concerned about losing a draft pick who won't play for them for another 2-3 years at the very least?
Time will tell.

At this point, the Islanders would have had an easier time with Washington.
Carolina is just a hot team right now.
Ratings disaster, but yes I agree.CAR v CBJ might turn out to be some great hockey.
