I'm not really convinced that you can judge either of these team's chances in the next round by what is showing here.
Just a case of me throwing out each series and looking at the next one as a complete unknown. that's just my personal take, as I haven't bothered to look at regular season results between the teams, for what that would be worth.

Agreed. Both teams in one series could be playing better than both teams in another series but you can’t compare. Need to see them play in R2 to truly know.

So Carolina gets jobbed with no PP in OT 1 and the automatic BS of delay of game will decide the series. Watch it happen. Disgusting.

Still don't understand why, with the insane amount of skill they have, NHL players even flirt with flipping the puck up near the boards

I’m not really projecting into the next round so much as looking at what it looks like is in the tank. You can see on the ice sometimes when teams just don’t have much left to give.
Maybe I misunderstood your earlier post about running on fumes. The viewpoint that I have is that the lack of sharpness in this game by both/either teams might or might not be an indication of how they would fare against a pretty fast and aggressive Islanders team.

I do recall last night while watching the Sharks-Golden Knights games in OT I noticed how slowly the Knights were moving when defending around their net. I suspected that shifts were going too long but whatever it was, the Knights looked slow and not much later the game was over.

Pace isn’t when they trade chances. Pace is when at least one team is on pucks quickly and moving pucks quickly. Neither team is doing that. The Hurricanes dominated the period there, but it was a matter of gassed vs more gassed.

It’s understandable at this point of the night, but it’s been this way since the 3rd period started. On the other hand, the Isles might be rusty at this point while the winner of this game might get re-energized, so who knows.
Agree to disagree. Canes were skating circles around the Caps. Breakouts were solid.

It looked that way only because one team was skating in quicksand and the other in cement.

But the Canes definitely have some pace to their game in the 2nd OT, so possibly I’m wrong.

And clearly I was behind.
