Lolz, good 29th pick, Devils. Tell me again why they didn't forfeit that one?

because they thought that Marty can be great for ever and they thought that they would be a great team... Devils need a new GM more so than the Rangers do... Devils goaltending is old and worn out... no future back their.. at least on NYR they have some solid defense and Hank is only 30...Lundqvist should have 6-8 solid seasons left... should draft a goalie now so Hank can groom him into the next future staring goalie of NYR

Still scratching my head over that pick, Lou refusing to use that pick as the one they could have forfeited.

I though Matteau looked good in a few games this year, has promise, but never good to see guys having problems with coaches/amateur teams. A little Lou will be good for this kid.

The past NHL covers have had Giroux, Stamkos, Toews, Kane, Phaneuf, Staal and Ovechkin.

Hagelin is a bit redundant amongst those guys tbh.....

Devils need a new GM worse than the Rangers do??? Let's not get silly here!!!

Why isn't Nash an option?

They have some weird choices in there. Brandon Yip and Matt Beleskey to name a few

Yea Hagelin doesn't belong in that voting at all. Should have been Nash/Lundqvist or Nash/Callahan if Lundqvist wasn't an option. Lundqvist deserved to be on the cover last year but there were too many Rangers haters voting against him.

well a normal GM would have drafted a goalie by now to take over for Marty. he is 40 and not getting younger and they also signed Kovalchuk to that long lengthy contract (great player but not worth it at all, 6 years at most is what id offer, and they overpaid for average players like Zubrus (UFA) and Ponikarovsky (via trade) they dont have much of a future... Rangers have a much better future... they might have to overpay for Clarkson (1st time as an UFA) to keep him as well as Elias (UFA although i can see him taking small discount to stay)

Wellwood looks like a good young goalie. Kinkaid does as well. They have a few good goalie prospects. It is also pretty easy to trade for, or sign a decent started in this league. Vokoun was signed for peanuts just this past off-season.

Part of me still thinks that's why they held on to their 1st round pick last year. I believe they were hoping and/or expecting Subban to last until #29. Unfortunately for them he was taken a few picks too soon.

Penguins missing everyone today:

Crosby - injured: broken jaw
Malkin - injured: shoulder
Neal - injured: concussion
Letang - illness: food poisoning
Martin - injured: broken hand
Fleury - personal: wife is having their first child

All good points on top of some not so wonderful signings and a number of very difficult decisions facing the Devils that will have to be made.
Still and all, Lamoriello forgot more about being a top GM than Sather has known for the past 20+ years during which time he has accomplished nothing!

Let's go Pens.

Of course they are.

And of course they're going to lose tonight and have their streak snapped just when the Rangers need some help from them.

I'll be cheering for Ottawa to lose, but I hope they make it painful for the Pens in the process.

I didn't see it called out but I just read that Steve McIntyre was called up for the Sens-Pens game tonight. Fireworks?

its funny that this guy couldnt make it with NYR organization but gets to play in the NHL on teams like Oilers and Penguins
