No. Please. My only reason is let's move forward and not fall into that historical trap of sentimentality.

For one year I don't mind whatsoever. Our NHL center depth is pretty poor unless we think one of Howden/Chytil/Andersson take a BIG step forward at center next year. If they do, we can trade Brassard at the deadline (which we likely do anyway).

Seems like a win-win.

Assuming Brassard takes a one-year deal. At 31, he's probably looking for a multiyear deal to finish out, or one last relatively big score before being a journeyman.

Brassard would be in an entirely different environment here. He would not have his running mates. It'd be like Nedved without Hlavac and Dvorak.

Play the kids.

Well we agree on no multi-year deal for Brassard.

But, I'm also not a fan of forcing kids to play above their paygrade. If Chytil isn't ready to anchor the second line, I don't want him anchoring the second-line. If he is, we can drop Brassard down the lineup, bury him, trade him, scratch him.

I see it as zero risk.

Brassard has looked bad. I'm not sure he is a better option than Strome. Then the rest of the youth battle it out, float up and down the line up according to performance, and we have the flexibility to manage their use.

So a 47 year old Jágr just scored this goal in the playoffs in the Czech league

That arena is f***ing crazy during the play offs man. Those fans are insane. Last year I was at a game there and they lit fireworks INDOORS!!! What a great experience but also terrifying haha

What arena is that? My friend played in that league for Chomutov Pirati(sorry for the spelling) I’m gonna ask him what he thinks of that atmosphere

ČEZ stadion, in Kladno
I’m gonna ask my buddy, he hated the Czech league, he said they hate immigrants on the teams. He got f***ed and had to keep flying from Prague to Ottawa out of his own pocket because the team didn’t do shit about his visa. I guess that’s better than what happened to him in the French league where his team’s owner didn’t pay the players for months then folded up shop. He still hasn’t gotten fully paid 3 years later. At the same time I’ll never forget his gm was texting him and he was showing me the texts because I went to France to watch him, anyway the gm asked him to contact his friends like Dany Heatley and ask if he wanted to sign there, meanwhile they weren’t paying the players as it was. And they gave the players cars with summer tires during the winter. Tomas Kloucek was his d partner which was cool to meet him after so many years since his NYR days.

TB should probably start playing

Let’s not overreact though, Caps were down 2-0 to Columbus just last season and won the cup so

First periods always look like the ultimate test for one of the teams in each game, but usually it's not a barometer for the rest of the game.
They never dictate what the rest of the game will look like so there is always that fact.
I shouldn't even talk about the 1st period yet, since it has barely begun, but so far the Lightning look flat. They always look the same to me.

We all loved McDonagh but I don't see how you can argue with trading him. He would be 31/32 when the Rangers are really ready to competer. With all those miles and injuries no thank you. Plus you would have no Hajek, Nils or Howden plus
